Some figs can bear fruit on 1st year growth, which makes them suitable for colder climates. That's apparently what you have. I just started a couple of Chicago Hardy figs in big pots this year (they are also first year fruiters). I plan to either wrap the pot with blankets, or move them into the unheated greenhouse to keep the roots from completely freezing.

@Lazy Gardener figs like being crowded in their pots, so don't be in a hurry to move yours to a bigger pot. Otherwise, they will spend all their energy filling the pot with roots before they start setting fruit, lol.

Been a while. What can i say its 100°f and im an hvac tech.

Garden is just about played out. Got alot of black eyed peas. Okra is still going. This year the bugs have been bad. We grew alot of food and didnt use much manure or fertilizer. I think malnutrition had something to do with the pests. Rabbits are still alive. I never got around to moving them. Just been putting 2 liter ice bottles in the cages twice a day and wetting them down as much as possible. They still have the fans so they get some evaporative cooling and the $5 tarps helped alot by shading them. Just a few weeks left...

You're definitely guaranteed to keep busy in your line of work in Texas! Hopefully, for all of us, we'll get a break in a few weeks. My garden gave up some time ago - but it fed the goats and pigs when I turned them in it - so everything isn't a bust.

Hey yall. Still busy, still 90°f!

I turned the chickens on the garden a while back. They made quick work of the clean up. Started a new conpost pile in the garden this time. To heck with hauling it around. And thats about it. Still working like a borrowed mule.

The wife is going on a cruise next week to mexico with her mother and aunts. Which means ill be stuck at home with 4 kids. My goal it to keep them alive until she returns. Starting to realize just how much she does now that im making plans. Its a pain taking 4 kids to 3 different schools and keeping up with all their crap. Idk how she does it.

Other than that we got enough black eyed peas this year for ten years. And its rabbit breeding season if the weather ever lets up. Looking forward to that!
