Now take it easy the rest of the day would you?
I'm trying! But, I had to go outside a few hours ago because we've been really overcast and it wasn't terribly hot. I did some watering and started a small fire to burn some dead branches that fell out of a dead tree. Then I came back inside and slept for 3 hours, lol.

Won't go back out for another couple of hours. DH is doing the heavy lifting at feeding time but ya know I have to 'supervise,' lol!

Ok - after being off a week and not being able to do much outside...I'm a bit concerned about retirement, lol. This has been THE most boring week....geeze. Even though I've been going outside each evening - I can't go outside during the day at all. Can't sweat...sweat burns the incision and causes the bandages to fall off. I'm not supposed to remove the bandages yet... oops!

Of course, I have some plans for retirement. Real plans that involve moving my body out the door no matter what the weather. Not sure if the weather is going to be real agreeable in January - but by golly I'm gonna make something happen.

Despite appearances to the contrary - there is more to my life than goats, lol. (at least a few things) One of the things I really want to get going is my gardening. I've just played at it for the last couple seasons because things have been so hectic with surgeries and family stuff. I haven't been able to do enough while working full-time.

I really want permanent beds in permanent places with permanent walkways between them. I want a screen house for tomatoes. I can grow the heck out of tomatoes - but can't keep the stinkin' stink bugs off of them. One year - a decade or so ago - when DH was healthy I HAD a hoop house covered in landscape fabric that I grew tomatoes in. It was 20 feet long and about 8 feet wide and I had more tomatoes then I could use. It was awesome! I want something similar to that again. So many plans!

Oh - and we got rain today - yay! We'd had nearly an inch last time I looked. It was good rain too - strong and steady but not overwhelming. I'll take it.

When you spend so many years at work, with a few days to relax and possibly hit on a couple "projects", that becomes the norm. So when retirement arrives, it's a whole new ballgame! That concerns me....will I adapt?

Probably will need to begin with "planned projects" that must be done within the few days we have off (as IF we had to return to the workplace) just to fool yourself. That's MY thinking. :D :old I am having a hard time believing I won't have to go to work...…….:idunno :D As in "no job". :caf

Woohoo- finally got outside for more than a few minutes! Found this when I was distracting myself with a leisurely ride around the lawn:

It’s a winter squash and larger than it appears in the pic. I need to go look through my seeds to remember the variety.

Looks like a cushaw squash. We stay busy. The difference is, it is at a slower pace, none of this frantic fast as I can go at warp speed stuff. Yesterday we slaughtered 4 Easter Egger roosters. We brought them in the house. I fine tuned the pin feathers, spatchcocked them and vacuum sealed them, in the freezer they went. Then we went to a friend's house and had strawberry cake. We got home about 2 PM. We took a nap, then I got up and started supper, we ate at 5, went out to do chores. A good day. Today, morning chores, let the sheep out on the new grass and watch and enjoy them. Did laundry, at 3:30, went to the next town to watch T-ball, a neighbor boy is playing. We bought team shirts with his number on them and Maddox's Mamaw and Maddox's Papaw on the back. Went out to eat, home at 7, evening chores. Another good day. We do what we want, when we want and how we want. There is a sign on the wall above the TV. It just doesn't get any better than this. And you know what? That sign is right.

By golly I think you're right. I did plant cushaw! It's my first try at them, so it looks like I might get at least one to try.

Your "non-schedule" sounds wonderful. I think I've been concerned only because I've been chained down this past week. If I were able to do what I want when I want it might be better. But, I do need some structure to my days. I'll get that from the feeding/animal chore routine.
