Hmmm -- dinner sounds good! Hope you both enjoyed it.
It was really good - but I've gotta teach DH that he's not cooking for an army, lol. We've had it two nights in a row and I'm taking the last of it for lunch today. We just don't eat as much at one time as we did years ago.

Getting rain for the next few days. Not just simple rain - but hard rain - a lot of rain - probably too much rain. I think I'm ready for it. Got all my round bales covered - and some of them re-covered because the wind re-arranged a couple of 'em. Moved some of the fence line feeders into the barn so they can eat without standing out in the rain. But, the rain is needed. I want to get some rye seed tossed out but I'm not going to do it right now....seeds would probably just wash way and I'd have bright green ditches, lol. Don't ask me how I know...but it was a good lesson learned decades ago.

MAYBE you will get just what you need with rain....hey, storms have skirted before. Seems it's always feast or famine.

Wellllll…. we have ourselves a little Tropical Storm. Imelda. Yay...not. This morning at 6ish - "they" predicted NO tropical development. Few hours later - it's a storm. Geeze!

Not a bad storm as storms go - at least so far. Winds of 40ish mph. I'm guessing it will be a rain event more than a wind event. But - I went and filled up a couple gas cans - justincase. I'd hate to be miserable if the power goes. Call me spoiled I guess...eh - I'll own it.

I've been wet all day so I guess I'll get wet again and go feed - right after the next weather forecast.

Over 9 inches of rain out of our little storm - so far. We are in a little lull right now. It would be a good time for me to go out and feed - but I need coffee more right now. Waiting for daylight to see what I need to do. The one thing that I will get to first thing is to move the bucks. Their shelter will be wet. They have a hoop house but I'm sure rain will have blown in making it a damp mess for them.

A place not far west of here has had nearly a foot at this time. I think two feet would be extreme, but not out of the question. We're at 9.5 right now and a big band is headed our way....sigh. Feast or famine - I knew it...:(

I sure hope you get some of it @baymule - it's got plenty to go around. Our rain has taken a break but we topped out over 10 inches. Work was closed today and I'm okay with that lol! If it wasn't - I would have taken the day off anyway - too much to do with the critters.

I spent a couple of hours outside this morning as the rain was tapering down. I thought I'd have to move the boys - but was able to add a heavy layer of old hay in their area for bedding so they're pretty happy right now. They have their own round bale but it's across the pen and they didn't want to go out to reach it - silly boys. So, I hung a new hay rack for them and filled it up. They were standing in their deep hay bedding and munching out of their new hay rack when I left them a while ago.

Things are draining pretty well right now but I do have some places that don't drain at all - things will just have to evaporate in those spots. Can you say pig pen? But, the pigs won't complain in this heat. It would be different if we had winter temps right now.

Weather folks say we'll get another round over night. Time will tell I guess. We really needed it and things look greener already.

It was nice to have a day off - but I've spent most of it wet. Wet from rain - or wet from sweat. It's crazy humid, lol. Go figger. Ten + inches of rain would tend to do that. I've hauled a lot of hay. Some for bedding, some for nourishment. Life goes on....
