As you may already know my father in-law passed away and the funeral was held the day I had planned the Oktoberfest party. Out of respect for my father in law, I canceled the Oktoberfest party.

But I needed a empty keg for peach cider for my daughters wedding reception. Sure i could just go out and buy another keg but what kind of challenge is that? So I set out on a mission... Can I drink 5 gallons of Oktoberfest beer in a week?

The answer... Absolutely I can and it only took 6 days :) it was only equivalent to 55 12 ounce bottles of beer. Which is only like 9 bottles of beer a day give it take - it was a cake walk and not even one hangover :) pretty amazing what a guy can do when he sets his mind to doing something.

I must admit though, I almost hated to hear that gushing sound of an empty keg when I poured the last glass of yummy Oktoberfest just a little bit ago. It was really sad... but I just so happen to have another full keg of Oktoberfest just waiting to be chilled and tapped. And now I have an empty keg for peach cider. So it was mixed emotions :( :) maybe I might just be a little bit drunk too... IDK but emotions are so complicated...

I'm going to hold off on tapping my next keg of Oktoberfest though and give myself a little bit of a break first. Alcohol is one of those things that can take control of you, I'm not going to let that happen to me.

I cleaned out the empty keg and poured 1 gallon of sanitizer in it, sealed it up and hooked it back up, turned on the gas and sanitized my hoses, faucet and keg at the same time. My little kezzer is pretty cool, if I do say so myself. A heck of a lot better than bottling that's for sure. Every guy needs one of these around the homestead. Its like a little white happy box that pours delicious ice cold beer on demand. What more could a guy ask for???

I'm sorry that your Oktoberfest party was canceled. And doubly sorry about the reason.

I am impressed with your ability to consume 5 gallons of beer in a week ... :thSome would consider that a problem.

Now you need to build a wood fired pizza oven so you can make pizza to go with your beer!

I will not be accused to adding to your honey-do list!

I have been talking about making a wood fired outdoor oven for years, DH finally mentioned to me that when we build our patio, he wants to build a wood fired pizza oven.:celebrate
