“Immunity varies from person to person, and uncommon individuals with weak immune memory still may be susceptible to reinfection,” Crotty said.

Despite these potential setbacks, researchers expressed hope that between the rollout of the vaccine and growing herd immunity, “durable immunity against secondary COVID-19 disease is a possibility in most individuals.”

i think this is has been generally seen via the very few numbers of reports of reinfections as this pandemic has been now going on for quite a long time. some reinfections have happened and also some mutations, but none of this is an actual surprise to anyone who studies these things.

onward ho. hope to see vaccine here soon. already heard from my cousin who is ER physician that they got their 2nd shot the other day. they are very happy and relieved to not have to worry so much about getting infected and can put that energy to better use treating patients. which also has been improving as numbers have come down and the hospital isn't as overloaded as it was before.

peace to all, be well in this new year.

One thing I am glad about with this vaccine, is that it brings out that side effects actually exist. Victims have been dismissed and ridiculed for years, and now even mainstream media is supporting the fact that certain people can react badly to "safe" treatments. Vaccine injury cant be ridiculed anymore because this has shown, very publicly, that not all people react as expected. (I acknowledge that the rejection of the idea of vaccine injury is likely local to this state, people are extremely harsh on anyone they deem "anti vax" even if they are not, the concerns of risk are valid).

We've been told here to start to plan to buy masks. We haven't been required to so far, but due to missteps by medical staff treating infected travellers, the risk of the UK strain has become very real. @baymule and @Lazy Gardener thanks for warning me to restock early cos you were right!

@Daisy did you get stocked up on the things you need? Sure hope so! I lived in Hurricane country for almost all of my life. Hurricane preparations were a normal part of living for me. So I guess I've been a bit of a prepper for extreme situations. One comfort food for me is brownies. Since dry cocoa stores well, I keep 3-4 containers at all times. I've had a 125 year old massive oak tree fall on my (previous, not this one) house and case a lot of damage. I can tell you, when tree branches are poking through the dining room and kitchen and it is raining in your house, a bottle of wine and a pan of brownies do a whole lot of making you feel better! LOL LOL
