Baby duck thinks it's a turkey. Only the turkeys have been broody, so most definitely hatched by turkey hen.

Cute lil thing.

I give my goose muscovy eggs to hatch every year, since I don't want anymore geese. She has to hatch and take care of something, or she will get depressed and stop eating.

She has just one duckling now that hatched. Actually I had to interfere and break out of the shell. She was hard on the eggs this year by moving them around too much. Most had detached air cells, and didn't make it. Started out with 6 eggs.

The muscovies don't grow up confused about what, or who they are as they integrate with the others of their own kind.

My gander was an only gosling raised with chicken chicks: Ameraucanas. He has his favorite two Ameraucana hens that he protects.

I peeked in through the window last night, twice. First time they all were sleeping. Second time, lone duck and the chicks were eating and drinking, that was good to see 👍

At Rural King, chicks were $2.99 each and a 50lb bag of 21% meatbird crumbles was $19.99 = $55.87.

Lone duck and the chicks are growing nicely. They are about 1/3 way through 50lbs of 21% meat bird crumbles. I've had them on constant feed and water so they eat and drink when the want. I figured at this rate I should be able to put the on 18% all flock pellets when they finish the 21% meat bird crumbles. Both buff Orpington and white jersey giant are large chickens. They need to get off to a good start.

Mature Orpingtons are large, heavy birds, weighing in at 7 to 8 pounds. Mature Jersey Giants are also large, heavy birds, weighing in at 10 to 13 pounds. Both breeds are dual purpose and lay large brown eggs.

curious if anyone on here has or currently is raising jersey giants?
