March 10, no wind. Low winds predicted at 3 MPH for 2 days. I lit burn piles. They lied.

The wind came up, blew embers and the grass fire merrily caught and outran me. I had company over, she and I battled the flames, a neighbor came over and helped. From no wind to blowing a gale, it sure made me feel stupid. It had rained, standing water in the field, but dry grass on top. Oh well.

My friend had a blast. They are from Miami, been Texas a year and love it here. What an adventure! She is now a firefighter!

We got the fire out, had some lemonade on the front porch and laughed at ourselves.

Now the burned areas are green with new grass. The piles are semi burned, but big logs are still there. Maybe some day…

While running the canner yesterday, nibbled away at the garage clutter. Saturday, took a carload of cardboard to the township recycling drop off.

Yesterday, moved my son's refrigerator and his totes to a single spot tucked in one corner. Did a little reorganization to facilitate more sifting through. We can actually access the man door now. Need to figure out what to do with the 3 big pieces of carpet from the install. I wonder if Habitat would accept it?

Went through several totes of my stuff, convinced the wife to come out and go through two boxes herself. Two bags of trash out of the garage.

Getting rid of stuff can be hard. The wife is struggling with it. As we go through the garage, we are both finding stuff packed away for decades...I even found an unopened pack of business cards from 1991...got them 3 months before I was laid off from my first post college job. Found my bills and grade cards from my first college degree. Had no real attachment, that stuff was just in a tote I was dragging through life.

This type of stuff I will toss out, but I want the kids to get a laugh out of it first.

I can understand. I’m finally going through boxes of personal items that belonged to my husband. Things he treasured, but I have no use for and don’t want. He’s been gone 3 1/2 years, not a 1991 prize, but needs going through and relocated somewhere else.

I'm still sifting thru boxes from packing out my mom's house, almost 10 yrs now. Most of this left is more household things. The majority of personal has been done. 😞 Such a job for these things. The late DH things were done just before moms came on. Makes you think on your own "leavings".

I tend to go through things as I am cleaning, if I come across something I wont ever need and haven't used in at least two years I toss it. DH, is another story. He knows stuff needs cleaned out but out of sight out of mind and if in sight and isnt a this minute need, why bother.
I dont want to leave my kids with a mess, none of us want a mess. I want to make it as easy on them as I can.
And its not just the personal stuff, its the bills, and things too. Given what this last year has been like puts all of it front and center. this is why DH choose to get the house fixed so we can stay here as long as we can and if need be it would actually be sellable.
non of know what tomorrow brings , As poor Bay had dropped in her lap and went through. I know my day will be here far sooner than I want. so not just for my kids but my self I need to make sure things are set so even I dont have a mess. I am too OCD for mess, my stress level is maxed and I am finding I get overwhelmed easier then I use to.
Well,,, enough of my rambling, steady on Self...............
More coffee and on with the day
