I only keep gasoline stored for a little under 3 months and make sure to cycle through it, by using it in my vehicle. If it is stabilized it might be ok for 6 to 8 months, but I think the stuff out of the pump is ok for 3 months.
It is big enough to power our sump pump, which runs alot in the spring. That and the fridge and freezer are our only real emergency power requirements. Anything bigger would mean more fuel is needed. Right?
It runs at about 10 L for 10 Hrs at 50% load. Assuming a 50% load I should be good...
Deb, that is the size of the geny I'd like to buy next, but right now we have a 3000 watt and keep about 100 L (that's what 20 Gal.) of gasoline on hand.
With that past 3 million customer outage in the U.S. that lasted a week, I though people would want to make sure they have enough fuel on hand.
I'd guess the belt woudl be $70 or less, but the labour would be the big question. If it only took 1/2 at a $100 shop rate, then $50, but if it is hard to get at then it might be up as much as 3 hrs of work.
I have no idea, but that would put you between $120 to $370.
That being said the...
I have just the basics of wood tools, no planer, jointer, etc. A buddy of mine has come out scavenging off the side of the road with me, and kept setting aside pieces that he later used for turning on his lathe. Said they had great spalding in them. He made some nice stuff, sold it for good...
Just got a phone call last night that a friend of a friend has had some trees taken down, and that they are mine for the taking. Located only 7 km from my wood stove!
We will have a full complement of firewood for next year now.
Good thing too, I might be out of work for a bit this fall.
A neighbour just had a very large silver maple cut down, then used his tractor to move the bucked wood over to my place.
I guess I've got some work to do this evening.
Nothing like people knowing you will take their 'scrap' trees, only to have to split it. I love heating my house for...
It's neat to see something that looks interesting to you, buy it, then begin to learn more about it and the company that made it, even other products the comany made.
Turns out they even made Beatty...
I sweep the chim for my wood stove twice a year, due to a bit of build up. I watched a few videos on the thermal mass rocket heaters. How on earth would you be able to effectively clean the 'ducting' or chim?
Got the electricity back on after 12 hours yesterday . Heavy wet snow/ice and a bit of wind brought a bunch of lines down. So glad we have a wood stove, kept the house at 21 deg C.
We lit 2 tea light candles and 2 oil lamps. When the power went off at 2:30am my power failure alarm woke me ...
Thanks for the reply's.
We pay about 10.8 cents per kWh, but by the time delivery, and all the fees and taxes are put on we are at 17.3 cents per kWh. It sounds like most people don't have nearly as many add-ons to their bill as we do here in Ontario.
