    one winter when both of us had pneumonia and were just getting over it we got snowed in pretty well. i went out and shovelled for about 10 minutes and came in and said "Call the guy." who came and plowed us most of the way out. i didn't feel guilty at all.

    we're eating blueberries from Peru... they're not all that great. i'd never buy them, i much prefer in season and local if i can get it or even better if i can grow it. spoiled i am and i admit it. :)

    know the pH of the items you are canning. for boiling water bath items of a low enough pH there isn't much risk at all of botulism. even if the seal doesn't hold you can either reprocess or keep the items in the fridge until you eat them. bad a moldy food shouldn't happen too often either...
