What did you do in your garden today?

I am going to get a fresh load of seaweed to mulch on my garden to prepare it for Tomatoes, I usually put it about a foot thick and give it a while to start to rot down then plant, biggest and healthiest plants I have ever grown are with seaweed mulch.

    Hi from New Zealand

We have just had the wettest July on record so not too many people are happy about NZ at the moment 😂. Spring is just around the corner though thank god.

Hunting for food (in New Zealand)

Wow that's a lot of rules, the only legal rule here is you are not allowed to take a .22 into the national parks because all birds are protected. We have made Canada geese a pest a few years back though. Anything here with four legs is fair game no matter what time of year.

    Prepping/stocking supplies

I view firewood as currency. Cooking/staying warm. Someone wants some then we can trade. I am clearing my land now of forestry pines so that I can build my cabin/workshop. I will be splitting and stacking about 5 seasons worth for future use.

Hunting for food (in New Zealand)

There are easier deer to hunt but many people including myself like to go quite far into the forests/parks for the experience and to see country most others are too lazy to walk to. The areas are far too rough to take a pack animal they just wouldn't get in. Its also just the culture of our...

Hunting for food (in New Zealand)

I have seen videos of Wolves being hunted in Idaho I think, are they now becoming a pest because they are breeding so well ? I can't even imagine what it would be like to hunt an animal as large as a wolf or bear

Hunting for food (in New Zealand)

We have a lot of wild pigs but its very difficult to get one without dogs, they rarely will come into the open country. And I do miss wild pork and hunting them with dogs. Our wild pigs dont get as big as in the US, average is 150 lbs with the occasional 200 pounder. I have seen videos on the...

Hunting for food (in New Zealand)

Hello. I am very new to this site, a huge part of my self sufficient lifestyle is getting my own meat. We dont have seasons for hunting here and deer are registered as a pest so we can shoot anything and any amount. I usually average 15-20 deer per year, all red deer and Fallow. I still have my...

    Hi from New Zealand

Yeah Once I have a garden etc built I will figure out the best sized area to put up deer fencing, I dont want to shoot to many on my place as I like having them there. I shoot alot of deer in other areas so no point clearing them out in my own back yard.

    Hi from New Zealand

Hello. I live in New Zealand and have about 30 acres of land I am currently working on to build a cabin, I have cleared about 200 Pine trees to make a safe area to build/work on. I love growing my own food along with hunting and diving. I do everything I can to provide my own meat (mostly...
