warm and humid today here too. i'm already done with any chores outside so i get to rest a few more minutes before getting a shower and then a friend will be here for a visit. will give a garden tour later but that's not a chore other than the heat and humidity.
the peppers off one plant plus a few peppers off another plant was enough to fill a five gallon bucket and after cutting off the tops it was plenty to fill two large dishes of stuffed peppers (plus i ate three of them that were left over or blemished). i think we have enough this season... :)
weeded the top of the north garden, by knife as i didn't want to scrape it. spotted spurge would have just dropped a lot of seeds and the purslane would also have been just making more plants if i didn't remove them more carefully. so now at least that is done. :)
will be a warm day today so...
September bean shelling season is here, well, sort of, i have a lot more to do, but this is the first small selection of some Lavender and various other outcrosses. i'm glad to see that Flair (a Purple Dove and Lavender outcross) came back along with some others i also hoped will continue to...
maple sugar candy or maple flavored anything are very much favorites of mine. i'm also ok using the imitation maple flavoring in some recipes because i can't really afford how much maple syrup i'd like to use instead. when i was making candies regularly i would use maple syrup for some...
sounds good to me. :)
last night was simple here, chopped up tomato, crisped up bacon bits in the microwave, added Miracle Whip. no bread as i have cookies enough to go around... even when doing tomatoes off and on through the whole day and nibbling bits of those i still can be quite happy...
i'll use up anything else i can find and buy more quart jars before i use pints. there's a good chance i won't need to buy any - someone told me they have a case and a half of quarts they'll give me next week plus 20 half gallon jars yet to use so i think i'm covered. :)
we don't usually cook...
got 21 quarts of tomatoes finishing up, picked this morning, worked on here or there through the day. Mom helped peel and chunk some of the tomatoes after she came home from visiting my brother.
i had to get into the the half gallon jars since i ran out of quart jars. wish i could trade in...
nope. no attempt at movie yesterday. too hot and my foot couldn't take it. instead i picked some dry beans and shelled those out after some cleaning. ugh! more cleaning today maybe... more shelling for sure. :)
i need to get some of the dust bunnies off the floor of this room, plus check for spiders. there's a lot of flats and bags of dry bean pods around so i'll also need to work around all of that.
this is not the time of the year when i normally clean much because of all the dust that happens from...
i know... nobody else is dumb enough to even try. :) nor would i even ask them...
right now it is rather foggy outside so i won't be doing anything until later.
