it was cold enough here to frost last night. i drank some hot water this morning to get started. i'll probably read for a while this morning to wait for the dew to burn off and for the day to get warmer before even thinking about going outside to get a project further along.
i remember my first trip driving across to NM from St. Louis and seeing in the distance what i thought to be a lone tree. it turned out to be a sign on an overpass.
we were at a Thanksgiving Dinner at a church one day some years ago and we'd sat down and these four ladies i know came over and sat by us. they said they were in a hurry because they had to get back home to watch LW. Mom and i just looked at each other...
i love eggs, but they don't love me. allergy shots took care of my worst reactions to them, but i can't eat a lot of them. a hard boiled egg with ketchup and hot sauce or a pickled egg is really nice once in a while.
my main problem now that i'm older is the smell of washing up after cooking...
we made bean soup this morning, using left-over ham from last Sunday. a little thin and the beans could have cooked a bit longer (they were still done, but a bit firm), but it was edible. good thing as we have a large glass bowl of it to eat plus eight quarts that somehow have to be given away...
played in the dirt getting some quack grass removed - still a long ways to go but every little bit of progress helps. :)
yesterday was adventures in same, plus more groundhog burrow plugging up (moving some rocks, etc.) and climbing through raspberry bushes along the bank of the ditch in...
it was a beautiful day outside. only managed three hours this afternoon but i was dragging up the pathway at the end because i'd just moved some heavy rocks, plus working on a slope and not very stable myself, so very tiring by the time i was done. groundhogs are PITA...

i was out with the air rifle to scare off the groundhog. later on it was back again and ran away but i did take a shot at it anyways just to let it know it wasn't a good idea to be around.
a bit later i heard a chainsaw over on the dirt road which we share with the neighbor who owns the land...
trip 5 (or is it 6 now? i've lost count) from washing machine repair people. at least he was here and saw what was happening. at first i was worried because we went through a cycle and it worked without a problem, but we then did another and it had the same issue as all along. just stops...
wow! that much rain that quick would be a flash flood event here. nice to have some time off to take a break for a few. i managed that today and really needed it and appreciated it. :)
ham, taters, bean caserole, rolls, salad, dessert. nice day with family. wish my nephew would have stuck around and talked more. still good to see him.
