Ah! I thought meat :) I am curious as I'm looking into getting rabbits for meat and fur, do they taste much different? All the sites I read say that new Zealand's, Californians and champagne de argent's are the best types but I'm not sure if that's because they produce better or if it's a...
I definetly don't want a styrafoam one! Since I generally work weird hours I'll need one that does pretty much all the work for me. Bexause more often then not I have terrible time management and would probably forget to flip them at one point or another :'(
So glad to hear your doing better!
Boy oh boy do I know that feeling of waking up and conquering the world with the fantastic I'm gonna do everything and everything and no one can stop me feeling... Upon which I make breakfast, clean a bit and go outside and maybe do two things. Then make the...
 well its been a bit since I got on here...
Not much excitement over my way, been working a bunch (long night shifts)
And there's freaking construction just about everywhere where I live :barnie
On the plus side:
I now have 4 of my six hens laying! I am slightly worried because they all...
I will have to try the ACV.
Right now they get de-wormer (we have so many stupid pigeons that keep landing in our yard), nutradrench <- I'm fairly positive I spelt that wrong, and some other vitamin stuff that I can't remember the name of. The girls get additional crushed oyster and layers mash...
Looks like Twinnie beat me to it...
I've been told by a lot of people that putting them in the freezer for two weeks kills off all parasite's/undesirables.
Youngest sis says we should wash the roosters a day or so before they go to freezer camp if we plan on keeping the feathers... I think...
Day 10
Not much interesting tonight, cleaned the ducks pool and did some small maintenance...then went to work.
Will need to spot clean pens/yard tomorrow before work. And check on the feathers Twinnie put in the freezer, I suspect she didn't label them so I won't know how long they've been in...
@sumi plus the costs to modernize might take you over budget... I've an uncle that has a septic back in Michigan and I vaugly remember it breaking one winter when I was really really little. Needless to say we didn't visit him for quite a while :hide
I agree with the more land thing, there's...
It's so hot here in the summers so I was thinking of trimming it short again once the heat hits this year its been over a year and a half since I last cut it.
I normally let it air dry with next to no issue but can't leave it down at night when its long or else I'll spend 10-15+ minutes...
Well the first one may not be too attractive to look at but that's nothing a coat or two of paint can't fix and its got electricity, water and the septic on site.
The second one needs a touch up coat too and its where you'd like to live but how much renovation is needed (it says complete but...
Day 9
Well I did not end up culling the roosters, the tripod I was going to borrow for my flame (to heat the water) was out of gas and I've no money to buy any. Also still don't have a pot big enough for water :'(
On the plus side I was able to cut my hair
My hair before donating to Wigs...
Hello and :welcome from sunny and hot Arizona!
There's quite a bit that can be done even with a small lot to be self sufficient. I recently got my first home and plan on turning the entire front yard into raised beds and have some chickens in the back. There's lots of fascinating things to learn...
Day 8
Not gonna get much homesteading things done today got a wedding to go to today, but that doesn't mean I won't have time to pick up the pot for culling. The plans to get it done tomorrow. The 5 roos literally spent over an hour yesterday crowing nonstop. I feel bad for my neighbors whom...
I would probably die if one crawled out on me, I have thankfully not run into either scorpion or rattle snake (as I am terrified of both). Thankfully I've lived in places that aren't breeding grounds or scorpion homes already... Sounds really dumb but I would so rather take on a mountain lion...
Ahh! Wowie, wish I had that option when I bought this house! Maybe the next place I'll get lucky enough but I've the feeling I'd need to move to another state, its hard to find a multi acre place here that doesn't have scorpions :barnie I can deal with big cats, bears, badgers, coyotes and...
