    SSDreamin Blessings and curses

Ouch! That sounded painful, but at least you're okay. Canning velveeta? How do you do that?

Really Really bad neighbor problem help please!!

The landlord needs to realize the situation is much different now. The landlord made that agreement when the neighbor had different dogs and they were nicer dogs. Now that the neighbor has aggressive dogs, the old agreement needs cancelled. I hope the window screen is enough to make them...

    homemade toothpaste

I cant use coconut (allergic) so I just make tooth powder and use it on the brush. I use powdered stevia to take the edge off the baking soda taste. It is a healthy alternative to using artificial sweeteners, but the liquid form is out of my budget. I grow a few plants of it each year, and...

    A life with/without labels.

I will use labels for myself sometimes but only as a sorta shorthand. If I call myself an organic gardener- the salesclerk at a garden center knows better than to try to sell me the latest chemical stuff. But I will still buy started plants- even if they were probably not organically grown...

usedteabag - or, how I learned to stop worrying and love the Journal

:frow Welcome from Arkansas. Nova Scotia sounds really good. I'm interested in winemaking and lots of people say I'm a hippie too,

Ok, I'm no longer a ghost, Oops, guest.

Welcome :) Blackberry jelly is wonderful. I have a blackberry plant popping up in my garden bed that will be getting transplanted soon. I want it to grow - just not right there.

Rathbone: Eggs for Hatching, Eggs for Eating, Eggs, Eggs, Eggs

Rathbone- a keeper like that doesn't have to give fancy presents on V'day. A mushy card is still nice. Denim Deb- I' d rather get a rose bush too.

    Dawn419 & doc's LSTA: Confounded Computer!!!

Cold and drizzle-sleet-snow then almost freezing rain to wash it away. Yucky day but I dressed warm and stayed inside until it went away. The consolation of not having livestock is that you can semi-hibernate if the weather is bad enough.

Great pics :) Any snow that is gone by the next day is a pretty good one. Hope the planting conditions get good soon. I'm starting to feel a bit of seed fever myself.

I can still bookwalk really well, just didn't know there was a name for it. Great score on the canning pot.

    Hello everyone - I'm bursting

I'm glad you are recovering this well already. Doing stuff does get easier again. It's so good that your son is home too. Last November was weird on the forum, but everything seems to be settled down now.

    Pictures of your garden fences?

It depends on what grows where you are, but Locusts or Osage Orange are used for living fences. Thorny hedge roses can work too, but goats love to eat them, so those might not work for everybody. Most of the living fences depend on dense growth and thorns to discourage intruders. Btw- I love...

    Companion Gardening

One of the best combos I've used was the tomatoes and the basils mixed together. Almost no bug damage on the tomatoes.

Oooooh flowers are starting. :ya Have fun with the seeding. I need to clean up my garden bed for replanting.

    Which seeds?

You might try soaking some of the grocery store beans to see if they will sprout. :hide I wouldn't try it with soybeans though. Too much of the soybean crop is GMO. You need to get organic soybeans if you want to make sure it's not GMO for those.

    Shepherd Bunny

Cheaper to feed and I think he just learned by watching the dogs training. That bunny is getting so much exercise- the meat might be tough.

Sounds like you'll be leading a parade. Thump that mattock on the ground sometimes for the drum section - the snakes will run for the other side of the county! Bushwhacking with a machete scares them too. I think they will be staying away from you.

That's a beautiful area. Remember to stomp some to scare away any snakes when your working up there. They love the harder to get to spots like that, and it's a warm spell. You're probably so used to knowing snake habits by now.
