Good luck with the garden preps. Have the Epsom salts ready for a good soak when you're done. It does wonders for sore muscles!

It's funny that you have the same county names around you in the new place. Anything that makes you laugh at a time like that is good. :) I remember that fog. It never lifted that day. Cool sunset pic. It's so red, it looks more like a pic of a fire.

The snow birds are already here, but I don't remember Oaklawn's racing dates. During the races- the town really fills up and traffic would be a nightmare. I think the live racing is done by then anyway.

    dwarf fruit trees...

I don't know where you're from, but those fruits all like places with mild winters. Meyer lemons can be grown in a pot pretty well and covered or brought in for the coldest nights. I haven't ever raised dwarf bananas but the regular sized ones usually send up suckers freely. We always let...

Wow! I hope your garden fills them up well this summer. eta- You might put dry veggies in some of the ones that aren't used for pressure canning.

Mason jar treasure find. A CAVE FULL!!

WOW is right! I told hubby and he says he remembers watching relatives cut inner tubes to make seals. I don't know if that is safe but it seemed weird to me.

We had some impressive thunder, and lots of wind. I wasn't feeling good either, so the wind kept waking me up. Those pumpkin pickles sound cool. :) I'll be happy to see you again. Hi Becca - Glad you're okay up there.

I think we are on the edge of this front. We had a good storm but the worst part seems to be missing us. Knock wood.

Pumpkin pickles? Haven't heard of those before. Are you having incredible fog up there? If not- We can spare some for you.

    Planning an Apothecary-type (herb) Garden

Wow- That's lots of stuff to grow. I would look up all the conditions that your family deals with first, and focus on any that can be used for more than one of the conditions. Give an herb extra points for being a natural source of a medicine that would be hard to get if TSHTF. Subtract...

    green tea uses

It's Extremely high in antioxidants, so they use it in health products normally and beauty products sometimes. Wont hurt anything- and might help. It has some sunscreen properties, so it has been used that way and *might* also help hair color not get sun-faded. Not really sure if it would...

    Am I Practical or Mean?

I've only had pet animals so far but am pretty practical about it. If they can be made healthy again- I will try, but I'll give treatments or bargain shop for vet fees, etc. If Death is knocking on the door- I hate losing them but just prolonging their lives is not fair. (That applies to...

    Free garden planner

Thank you. :) I wrote it for Earth Day back then, but wanted a copy of it here. Btw- I tried to make it a page in the My Page section, but that wouldn't cooperate. The title spot doesn't give enough characters -and- it wouldn't let me paste the text in either. So it went to the journal...
