Very cool ! Normal machines are okay, but I always want to go slower anyway, so I can get it right. A hand crank or foot treadle would be just right for me.
I haven't tried it yet, but they used the kind that is normally sold for mulch. If you want a truckload, contact a landscape supply place.
Or ask the power company or tree service people what they do with the chipped up stuff after trimming trees. May get a better deal.
I'm glad things are looking up for you. I like the way you look at the world now. You still have the same sense of humor, but brains stay organized a bit better- without an alcohol cloud in there. Your writing will probably flow easier.
It's amazing what we see when we take a fresh look...
Sorry your friend passed. :hugs Some people really know how to live every moment as they go through life. It sounds like she was one of them. It's good that she had you for a friend.
Here's a tip for people that don't want to waste the fiber. Stick the pulp in a container in the freezer and whenever it fills up- make soup stock from it.
I responded to you on the what I got thread. Check thrift shops for books on juicing. They're easy to come by. I like to use apples in lots of my juices.
My fave juice is fill 1/2 of the the glass with carrot or apple juice, a bit of beet, a handful of parsley and a celery stick.
If you...
Juicing is great! I used to work in a health food store and got used to drinking them. Finally bought my Acme (used) and a stiff brush to make clean up easy. You'll be enjoying yourself with the new machine. :)
Glad you're getting better again! :hugs
My hubby had a stroke before and you'll be surprised at how much will eventually come back. You'll have to work at it, and it is hard to do - but it does keep getting better.
Hubby said Thanks for the birthday wishes. :D He's always surprised when people remember his birthday. Too much going on with the Xmas season.
We invited some friends to come over in the daytime for a birthday party and it was the 1st time he'd ever had a b-day party that had more than just...
Thanks for reviving this thread. This has been on my mind sometimes. Hubby is disabled but my health is mostly good and I am fairly strong. Having a small farm/homestead is still important to me, so I'm interested in ways to make some of it easier, or safer to do. I want to build a small...
This is my first try at making it, but it seems to be working. It probably needs to age, but I doubt hubby will leave it alone. I saved the extra juice from the Claussen kraut and poured that juice in the bucket to give it a head start. Just wanted to make sure the right culture got going.
I've heard about people using pine bark- the kind with the little pieces. You can get big amounts of it for cheap. Or huge amounts (think truckload) for even better deals. Totally biodegradable and it's good mulch too.
" Thanks, DD. I realized just how much i really want to live. It's easy to quit drinking when a doctor tells you that you are about to die any day now. Hopefully i won't need a liver transplant. The organic berries and greens seem to be helping. Today the swelling was down even more, and i was...
Happy Anniversary :celebrate
Enjoy your goat too. Is she full grown yet? If you just need to get a buddy cheap- you might buy a wether to keep her company. They don't stink and tend to have a good attitude.
Hi Dawn :D Hope you are enjoying yourselves up there.
Mike snuck a bit out of it and liked it. It was started on Monday or Tuesday and has been doing fine so far, at room temp.
It's sitting on top of the frig and is about a week old now. It smells right, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll be jarring it up and putting it in the frig once it tastes "done". I'm not sure if light would matter or not. It's in a whitish 2 gallon bucket right now.
I gotta go for a bit. Be...
