I love my granddaughters visits. It’s so much fun. I’m glad you enjoyed her visit so much. It’s so worth it to take a few days “off” and center your attention on your precious granddaughter!
When I had knee replacement surgery I hired a friend to come take care of my animals for a month, just so I wouldn’t do something stupid. By the third week I was able to do some of the feeding, by fourth week I could take care of them in the mornings and feed dogs in the evenings. At end of the...
I’ve completed one order for 10 chickens, plus 10 pounds ground chicken, total 66 pounds, at $8 per pound. That comes to $528. Her schedule is crazy, we’ll meet up probably on April 6.
Total pounds processed so far is 152 pounds, 10 ounces, 26 chickens.
I gave one chicken to a neighbor who...
@CrealCritter just what was in that “health” drink that made you so grumpy? At least you know it was the drink that made you so grumpy. Think about all the people who may have the same problem but don’t know why. Our foods have degenerated into a chemical mis-mash of sickness.
On second cup of...
One of my ewes had triplets last time my granddaughters were here. We pulled up lawn chairs and they got to watch the whole thing. They were so excited.
I hope that for has her kids while your granddaughter is there. Better yet, if y’all get to watch the birth! ❤️
Wednesday morning and coffee is ready. Going to be a sunny beautiful day today. I’ll be butchering chickens. Pack on ice and process Thursday and Friday. My free chickens are getting some huge ones in the group.
Store bought beef was raised in a feed lot on grains. Cattle are made to eat grass. Your cattle have lush, rich grass to eat, plus some feed to put a good finish on them. That makes for some tasty beef!
Coffee is ready, on second cup. 66F in the house this morning, but didn’t light the heater. Will go up to 77F today. I turn on the heater lamps in meat chickens coop before dark and off by mid morning. They are doing well.
On second cup of coffee, then I’ll go outside and do morning chores. Have to get an early start on Sunday mornings. I’m teaching Sunday school at church, the kids are fun. All ages in one classroom, it gets interesting. I’m supposed to be done at the end of March, and someone else take a turn...
I found an old bottle of that stuff in my mom’s medicine cabinet. With the rubber top and glass wand to doctor one right up. I still have it. Memories!
I ferment their feed in buttermilk and water the last 2-3 weeks.
My friend gave me 4 more big chickens yesterday plus more feed. I got the 10 chickens processed and in the freezer. I cut some off the bone, wound up with 4 pounds of deboned chicken. I made pan sausage with it today.
My...
Wednesday I hand picked 10 chickens, dumb thing to do. Packed on ice, I’ll process them today. Yesterday I went to my friend’s house and got his chicken plucker. We figured out that I’ll be done with all of mine about the time he needs to start on his. LOL
Didn’t play with chainsaw Wednesday. Butchered 10 chickens, packed on ice, will process today. Idiot me hand picked them. Yesterday I went to friend’s house and borrowed his chicken plucker. Won’t hand pick the rest of them!
