It is a good thing I live on the outskirts of very small rural town and my closest neighbor is a good distance away because not only would people be complaining about my hanging my laundry but definitely watering my lawn if the urge hits me. :hide
After the pig went to the butcher I came home and cleaned up the house and then the man came to pick up my non-layers. I am so excited because he told my dear hubby he had a ton of windows and we could have some for our greenhouse. We had heavy plastic on it but the great window storm that...
I estimated him to be about 300 pounds on the tape, the butcher thought close to 250-275. I really have no idea, I guess I will find out soon. He seemed like a big boy.
The type of wood is important, very important to my husband and his logging family. In their eyes if it aint Tamarack or Red Fir it aint worth getting. I grew up with my family burning what ever we could get our hands on. We picked up a lot of scrap wood on construction sites.
This is what we do also and with a new stove it should burn all night. When you close it down, it smolders so in the morning we open it back up and allow air in and it starts burning again before we add wood. If we left ours open all night our wood would burn up also. Hope that helps a little!
I am lazy, too lazy to write all about the pig loading experience but if you want to check it out, it is on my blog!

I delivered 10 Golden Sex link chickens today and got $70. They were from Meyer Hatchery and were part of my minimum order. I was very happy with that. I also pulled out the non-layers from the hen house and have a friend coming to get them on Sunday to butcher. Being pregnant I am just...
School was cancelled here today also but because of freezing rain that was falling on top of the snow. A school bus went into the ditch first thing this morning and that prompted school closure.
Thanks everyone! I go back to the doctor tomorrow for a check. Hoping to see the heartbeat, we saw it on ultrasound because of the problems I was having but I really want to hear it!
The only broody hens I have ever had were my either my Buff or Blue Orps. I have a mixture of hens in the chicken house and those were the only ones that ever sat and hatched out chicks. They were excellent mommas.
I love my Buff Orps, they are so friendly and nice. I also love my Blue Orps and last year I mixed a Blue Roo with Buff hens and the babies are beautiful. Have fun with your chicks. I am on Meyer Hatchery right now making up my dream list. D
How am I? Seriously I am so ready for spring, to get my hands in the dirt, to really clean out the animal pens and to just feel the sun on my back. I think I still have a wait though.
Hi, how are you doing? I hope you enjoy your worm farm, mine is fun and the dirt they are in makes the best seedling mix. I use that and some peat moss mixed and my seedlings just thrived last year.
