savingdogs, my BOs are typically great layers and good broodies. I have a quad plus some chicks I'm debating about keeping. I know I can sell those locally.
Wifezilla, I have a young drake that ended up with weak, wideset legs. He wobbles and spends most of his time laying down. He is a black...
New batch of Kombucha may be ready tomorrow. :thumbsup My first batch is a bit too vinegary for my taste. I need to try infusing with ginger.
This past week I trapped and killed 3 coons. I can't see that I lost any birds, but there are some blue (look like chicken) feathers at the bottom of a...
My 2 Golden Delicious apple trees are loaded this year with apples. I don't know if I've ever seen so many on the trees. They are about crab apple size right now. The trees are bushy, and I have done NOTHING as far as spraying/treating goes. Usually what apples we do manage to get are very...
Free's Shrub recipe made me think about raspberry cordial (as in from Anne of Green Gables ;) ). I've never had it, but I might try a recipe (if I can get some raspberries). I only picked about a cup of black raspberries this year. Seems the coons were beating me to them.
Blackberries are...
Thankfully our local food bank is a good one. My mom volunteers there every couple of weeks. They do get in fresh veggies and frozen meat. Sometimes they even get local donations of fresh veggies and meat and eggs. I've given them eggs during heavy laying cycles. But they also get plenty of...
I like savingdogs' idea of a starting a club. It does sound like your DD needs some on-going contact in order to feel relaxed and part of the group. The shared horse interest is a great thing to build on.
As for just a party - a scavenger hunt is a great idea and makes the kids work together...
Oh my! I had visions of tomatoes tumbling on the delicate cycle. :lau Sorry, I rarely/never use my dehydrator.
Hang in there. Sounds like PMS for DD. :hugs
Savingdogs, getting Russian Orloffs in a mixup was a pretty good deal, I think. I was looking at ROs from the start of my chicken interest. Love their unique look and heritage. I finally got a pair in May, and also have 4 young ones.
Mutts! How nice! We (QA and I) got some Mt. Healthy chicks last spring for the feed store sale. They all, including the BAs, seemed pure to breed.
One of my first chickens is a BA. She is pretty and BIG. She is broody right now, and lifting her to get to the eggs takes some muscle.
I've got...
I love it! :love
POW!
Edited to add that looking at the mama cat again, she has to be asking "What does she got that I don't have? Certainly not milk!" :lau
I can't seem to have too many cookbooks, so I headed over to Amazon to check this one out. I'm a bit turned off by the style of recipes being in more of a story/text format than an ingredients list, but I may get a used copy.
When searching for it, the book Forgotten Skills of Cooking came up...
I have bluebirds . . . and I have cats. I find blue feathers at least once a year. :hit
We have at least one pair of bluebirds around the yard this year. They are probably happy now that the hayfield has been cut and the pasture has been brush hogged.
I started mine by using a bottle of GTs Kombucha from the health store and various instructions found online. It worked fine for me.
My first scoby baby will go to my neighbor. Not sure how many extras to expect to have.
