yeah, I've had an awful lot of blossom end rot which I've never had before on the tomatoes. I think it has been so wet - the green beans are limp with too much water too. I have an apple tree that is just a few years old and its leaves are all yellowed, I think it is drowning. definitely a...

Next kitchen appliance... what should it be?

I vote for an immersion blender. With it, making soups is so easy - I used to hate having to try to pour hot soup into the blender, spattering everywhere, having to dump the blended soup into a container while I got more soup out of the pot into the blender, repeat, repeat, and then having...

went to a garlic festival in southern mn yesterday - prices were HIGH - up to $3 for one head of garlic. there were supposed to be 104 varieties, but I didn't see that many. garlic ice cream is yucky!!! It was fun, though - and lots of small garlic growers and their families there, and...

    Safe rooms?

Hi Jax, even though I was plenty scared during that storm, I'ld have to say that I think the chances of getting injured during a tornado are nothing compared to your chances of a serious car accident. some trailer parks have a community storm shelter I wouldn't worry about which side of an...

I don't know why I never did this before, but tonight I made homemade tortillas. yummy, and went great with a little beef, onions/tomats/peppers from the garden and cheese, of course. feel a little silly, its gotta be like bragging that you made your own salad dressing - why would anyone buy...

oh good. I didn't grow corn this year, but I've done the "prop em, heap dirt on em" method of getting them more or less upright. But how the heck do you do it when the ground is more or less soup? sitting here with the lamps on because it is too dark to see. it is 62 degrees out, amazing...
