How many families to start a SS community in a abandoned vilage ?

I would love to live in a small, tight knit community like that - like the Amish, in the respect that they help eachother. A barn needs raised, everyone shows up for the party. I think that's awesome.

How many families to start a SS community in a abandoned vilage ?

When I moved to AZ 6 years ago I was suprised to learn that there was a town here called "Sasabe" for sale. Also, don't Demi Moore & Bruce Willis own a town in Idaho? edited for grammer so my DF doesn't roll over in his grave

Free.... need to talk to you

That's great to know about the limes - we use alot of those here and I hate to run out. Regarding the zest, I will try drying to flavor stuff later - baked goods, fish, poultry, etc... I'm afraid it will taste more bitter than anything, but I'm going to give it a shot. ETA: We will now return...

Meriruka's Tales - need advice on squash

I worked at a Veterinary Hospital in the country some years ago... after a storm one day, one our techs arrived to find a stray emu near our gate. Nobody ever claimed it and so the tech took it home with her. They are not particularly bright, so you have to have safe and secure fencing/shelter...

    Rag rugs!

I know where I went wrong with my braided rug, but I wonder what I did differently with my crocheted rugs that they are holding up so beautifully? I love that I can wash them. That's a big MUST at my house these days. I really like both techniques of rug making. I wish I'd had better skills and...

    Feeding your dog raw food

Free, we have 2 raw meals under our belt and I AM suprised at how little it is taking to satify my eating machine. It also suprises me that he is just as happy with a raw carrot or broccoli stem as he seems to be to get raw meat. He :woot also is taking more time to eat. He and Bella each got a...

Free.... need to talk to you

I apologe in advance for hijacking the thread, but I really need to know... Dace, did you freeze your lemons whole or did you freeze their juice? I just bought several lbs of lemons. I wanted to juice them and freeze the juice kind of like concentrate. I want to zest them first so I have...

    Rag rugs!

I made on eof these years ago - I loved that rug, but it didn't hold together well for me - I think I should have used stronger thread or something to hold it together. I bought wool blankets from the thrift stores (very cheap, as it wasn't chic to buy used stuff back then unless you were kinda...

Work in progress thread - Monastic herbalism of saint benedict order

I signed up for my e-mail at Live.com, which gave me a toolbar with a Translator - I just highlight the text, open my toolbar, select "translate", and VOILA"! It's kind of cool, actually. :thumbsup

    Rag rugs!

Oh yes, :lau that was you, wasn't it? :lau :fl You probably didn't have a great big one like you will need to make a rug anyway... you do need a pretty good sized hook because the strips will be much fatter than yarn is and it will be almost impossible to work it with a smaller hook.

    Rag rugs!

I've crocheted a rag rug out of old sheets torn into strips - my MIL printed fabric from her stash and the resulting rugs are fabulous. I like the technique okay, but I get tendonitis when I crochet anymore. The next one I make will be on my rug loom after I modify it. The crocheted rugs are...
