Our fair is huge with goats and my kids already show chickens and rabbits in 4-H so whats a few more to take over to the fair. I live in a pretty rural area and our fair is a big deal. The only thing was that there were only about 10 nigi's there. But there were a lot of Nubians. The meat goats...
Good luck on keeping the starlings out, we got some in our coop last year and never could keep them out completely.
The kids want to show goats and we don't have a lot of land right now so we want Nigeran Dwarfs. I can't wait and love seeing everyone else's goats. Oh, and I am watching Phoenix...
My kids went back to school today but on a 2 hr delay. Then my son calls to tell me the bus is 15 min late. At 25 min late I call the bus garage and they tell me she got stuck in a driveway and is running at least 15 min late. Well it's 9* in my coop this morning according to our thermometer so...
My kids went back to school today to, but with a 2 hr delay.
Brrrr is right, it is really cold, but the sun is out and that helps cheer me up a little.
I can't wait to see baby goat pictures! We will have goats this year, they just have to wait until I get the last of our debt paid off.
My kids didn't have school today either and we still had power when I woke up. My husband didn't have any trouble getting to work. I didn't want to go in and leave the kids home alone in case the power went out. They are old enough to stay home, but I have the option to work from home so I did...
Be careful out there, I opened one of the coops and the chickens all ran out and promptly fell down. I tried putting some straw down but they just slid around on the straw. My son was out helping me and he slipped and fell, but is young enough to think its funny.
I just started watching the...
Cool link Jamie, I checked the sensors for my route to work and 1 was error, 1 said icy, and the others were chemically wet. I will also be staying home today. I haven't even gone out to let the chickens out yet. I will not be opening them today and I fed them all late yesterday and filled up...
Same for us here. When I get home tonight the kids and I will be filling up feeders and waterers to the brim and also filling up buckets in the house just in case we lose power. I will be baking tonight as well. It looks like I will end up being home at least Tuesday and maybe even Wednesday...
I am going to agree with everyone else about the barn and goat envy. My hubby promised the kids and I goats this year and we can't wait. They are going to show in 4-H, but we have to get a shelter together and fencing up first. They already show rabbits and chickens but can not wait for the...
My dad was and my husband is a jack of all trades. Along with being a mechanic my husband can weld, plumb, do electrical work, and carpentry, and even though he is not an auto mechanic he does all the work on our vehicles. My dad taught me woodworking, I did 9 years of 4-H woodworking projects...
That is a very interesting read. My husband is a mechanic and will always have work, even if it is just side work for people around us. He always has something to work on and it brings in some extra money. He is not a car mechanic, he works on small engines, lawn mowers, chainsaws, push mowers...
I don't know, sometimes I just really don't have anything to say. I am going to chime in more though.
Java, I love the goat pics. Perdy looks huge and ready to pop anytime!
I saw that ad on Craigslist yesterday while at work and someone walking by asked me what was so funny. Of course if I have to explain it, it's not as funny.
I've lurked on this site for a year and love all the different journals. I to am from Ohio and am amazed at how many of us are on here.
I am a former 4-Her and my kids are starting their 3rd year in 4-H. I did so many things. I finally settled on cooking and woodworking for the last 5 years or so I was in it. I went to state 6 times with my woodworking projects (I still have almost all of them in my home) and went to state for...
I can do without most houshold cleaners now as well. I use vinegar, ammonia, and baking soda for my cleaning. I do still use windex but I only buy a bottle every year or 2.
I can also do with out the swiffer, my husband loves it, but it leaves a film on my floor. I hate that! I need to just...
Mine is also to be more frugal, pay off the credit cards, expand the garden and can more this year. I am already doing great with paying my bills on time, it's just all the incidental spending that gets me in trouble.
Hello, I am also interested in growing feed for my chickens this year. I only live on 2 acres so I'm not sure how much I can grow for them. If I want to get the most bang for my buck what is the one crop you would recoomend.
P.s I came over here from BYC. :D
