I need a few more ideas on what to do with Jalapenos.

This is crazy good. Split a jalapeno in half leaving the stem on and deseed or not, I deseed. Fiil with peanut butter and seal back up and put as much melted chocolate as you can make stick to it. We had such a harvest of more than 20 lbs this year. I bought a recipe book just for them. Jalapeno...

    Plumbing question?

I got the part and it fits! Took 6 hours of going page by page on every plumbing catalog. It was laborious. If you need an odd size Plumbingsupply. com is the place to go. It is a 3/4 female 27 thread to a 55/64 male 27 thread. They also offered it with a hose thread male. $11 and I have super...

Sharp knives, went through about every knife in the house to find one. Knife sharpener on shopping list. Shaky hands and a knife, not good. Killing named birds not fun. Have Beaky broth in the canner now. Eww Then had to test a bite of Old Girl. A couple weeks in the freezer might help.

    Plumbing question?

Whingnut and Andy J. What I have is a Sun Pure water filter that we bought in 2000. They have since stopped manufacturing and my paperwork just says use the adaptor and rubber washer supplied. I guess we forgot to remove the adaptor when we moved 4 years ago and the diverter fit perfectly on the...

    Plumbing question?

Whingnut, is the 3/4 the standard faucet? We were under the impression or don't know how to read the wording that we need for the female to be 3/4 and the male 55/64. Told you I know nothing, is that what it said?

    Plumbing question?

I know pretty much nothing about plumbing. We bought a new kitchen faucet due to leaks and actually installed it correctly. Problem is we also have a very pricey water filtration system and they do not fit together. Went to Lowes and got no real answer or part available. The only info I have is...

    Frustration with Food rant

Thanks for the heads up, I was tripping over that Wheat Belly book. I didn't even buy it just read some parts of it on the web. I do what I can afford and have the energy for. Guess maybe I should stop comparing what I can do now at almost 60 to my youth when I thought I could do it all.

    WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

Was going to get started on the huge bag of jalapeno peppers but thought I would see if anyone knew how to get even semi-crisp pepper rings. We got a boatload this year. I normally plant 6 and 1 or 2 make it, this year it was 5. I have dried and frozen what I have room for and they are still going.

    harvesting grain sorghum

When is it ready? Tried a small plot this year and can't decide if it is ready. I cut some at a slightly tan color but the chickens can't seem to peck it off the head. The packet wasn't much help. Anybody got advice?

Bought a carton of organic plain yogurt and set it up to drain the whey to make pickles. Now I have done this before with a brand my store quit carrying but with this one NO whey dripped out. WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

Has any body ever canned hulled barley? Not the pearled one. I would use a lot more barley if it was ready to use and I have a bunch of bags in my freezer that I would like out of there.

how much for your farm eggs?

I just raised my price a week ago from $1.50 to $2.00. My poorest customer said I should do it. This was after a 2 month complete lack of eggs. We will see if the sales drop. Guys at DH work will gladly pay but I have yet to see some of my regulars since I put the new price on my sign. My costs...

    how to store spices?

I store all my spices in the freezer in bags and just refill my small spice containers that are in the cabinet. I have 2 year old spices that smell and look as fresh as the day I packaged them. I love the Amish store!

What did you do to save $ today?

Me and the Gals -I just went to the Amazon site and put in a search for Canon 860 printer ink and scrolled around reading reviews. It took a little time but I got 4 sets of the 2 black cartridges, the 4 magenta, 4 cyan, 4 yellow all for $10.46. I can't buy one Cannon cartridge for that. They are...

What did you do to save $ today?

Started using the ink refills for my 860 Canon printer. I bought them on Amazon 20 little packs for $10 and some change. Bought some other stuff I was going to buy anyway to get the total for free shipping. The inks worked really well for what I paid as I no longer need professional quality to...
