The Difference Between "Broke" and "We Can't Afford It"

Yep. I say "that's not part of our budget plan right now." Should someone have the gall to ask about our income I just look amazed and say "WHY would you want to know THAT!" That usually puts an end to that subject and I move on to something else. Should someone tell us/me that we should eat...

    Clicking on Links...

That's pretty lazy! :lau You could do what I do. I have a scrolling mouse for both the laptop and desktop comps- just push down on the wheel and it opens the link in another tab. Really, Katie......... :gig I could have sworn I was lazier than you - now I KNOW it! :P

Tortoise - meat strecher ideas! Please share more :-)

Great ideas. I didn't score any pumpkins this year, and the crop failure was epic. What about ground peanuts? I'm thinking specifically of Groundnut African Stew, but I don't eat chicken so was thinking it might work with beef.

Tortoise - meat strecher ideas! Please share more :-)

Pumpkin? Like plain canned pumpkin? I am really liking this idea, I can see it with a little curry powder if you want to tweak the flavor another direction... I could feed that to DH 4 times a week, just change the seasonings around each time. I like the cauliflower, too. ETA yep, I could...

Who's House is a Train Wreck?

Pat, you have company here! Between 2 large dogs, 3 cats and a DH who never puts anything away or tosses it out, all "supervised" by a woman who wears her coop shoes in the house......... And that's just the floors! You should see the table tops, desk tops and counters - actually I should see...

YAY!!! Finally Some Duck Eggs! Beautiful, Delicious Quacked Up Eggs!

BarredBuff, according to DH they are just a tad bit stronger than a fresh chicken egg. He said they were delicious, which is high praise from him. He's pretty careful when I use him as a guinea pig! I though I was going to have to wait until spring, too, so this was a fabulous surprise. Seeing...

    TP Scam!

Our local grocery store is pretty small, they've got the market cornered though. I usually get the house brand sugar. Boy was I surprised when the 5 lb. bag suddenly became a 4 lb. bag - at the same price! Grrrr.... wonder how many folks didn't even notice. As far as the shelf tags, I find that...

YAY!!! Finally Some Duck Eggs! Beautiful, Delicious Quacked Up Eggs!

I had the amazing good fortune to pick 4 female ducklings from the TSC straight run bin 10 months ago. 3 Mallards and 1 Mal-mix. I thought they had decided to wait for spring, but on New Year's Day they each layed (laid?) a beautiful egg. The top egg is a large chicken egg for comparison...

Calling all chicken experts! ANOTHER Question...

No roosters, supposedly. Though I have a 10 month old who has just come out of his rooster closet...... For applying BluKote I highly recommend rubber gloves and a plastic rain poncho! :D Watch out for the shaking after applying. Spray and haul butt outta there!

Heinlein Readers......are there a lot of us here, or what?

You already know I am. But it's been years since I've read any, might be a good winter reading project. There are times when I don't agree with his attitude, but I still enjoy seeing another viewpoint. DH is a fan as well. One of my favorite "happenings" is when the Fair Witness Anne is...

    Dwarf fruit trees/bushes

I have a dwarf orange tree in a pot in the dining room right now. Need to plant it but can't decide where. Last winter it bloomed indoors but the flowers fell off. I have several dwarf apple, pear and peach trees here, they've been planted for several years. So far the squirrels are getting...

What is the best advice you have ever been given?

Another Heinlen reader here. :) But what I remember most often is my mother telling me "what goes around, comes around."
