    DIY 100 hour candle

Glass has been used for lamps about as long as we've had glass. How long it will burn would depend on amount of fuel and wick size. I think they look allot better than a wick stuck in a fuel can, but to each his own. I still think it's a cheap way to get some light without electric.

birds have developed a taste for eggs

Not if you learned to do it right.... My family were real sticklers when it came to the needle arts. My dad said the socks my mom darned (and later me) were better than the ones his mom would do. I still darn some socks, when DH worked in a freezer all day he needed good expensive thermo socks...

birds have developed a taste for eggs

Another type of "egg" you might have or want to collect is "Darning eggs". You might have some of those thinking they were nesteggs. Sometimes darning eggs have a handle but often don't. I still have a couple my great grandma used. I even keep one out for fixing socks.

I had broken eggs for a while too. I got some 2/$1 foam place mats and cut them in half... worked great. Nice soft landing!;)

    Broken leg

Hope your little duck gets better soon! He should heal fast but try not to "jump the gun". I'm trying to "fix" a hen with a dislocated hip :/ Thank goodness birds often heal well!

birds have developed a taste for eggs

Birds (at least chickens) don't taste spicy "hot" like most animals. Some even like it! I add hot spice to the chickens wet mash in winter to warm them up and they love it! My chickens were picking on the only white egg that was getting laid, I put golf balls in the nests and grabbed the white...

    kitchen thingy WTF is it?

After seeing it apart and seeing the "screen", yes, I think it's for sauce/puree. You would squeeze out a bunch, pull out and clean the screen when needed. There were probably screens with different size holes at one point. Should work well for tomatoes to get the skins and seeds out. Try it...

    Drying Herbs

True about the oils. I have been doing hers for all sorts of things for years, mostly medical. The best way I have found to dry them is in a brown paper bag. If your doing bundles with stems, med. to lunch size bags work best. Make your bundles small enough to go "head first" into the bag with...

Feeding Animals When Feed is Not Available

If any of you have any garden space at all.... you could grow "cover crops" of things the critters will eat. (I haven't done it myself yet, but know people who have) Plant in fall after harvest, It should be ready in spring before you plant. Harvest and dry for storage. Like I said, I haven't...

Another "new" addition to the family

Very nice! You may find you don't need as many nesting boxes though, they have a tendency to pick a few boxes and they will all use those... I over built my nesting boxes too... I used what hey didn't for storage :idunno Yep! Better get to adding coop space! Chicken math will catch up REAL...

    Nursing a poult?

You can feed her eggs along with he feed and get her some vitamins from TSC or Fleet Farm or whatever feed store you have in your area. Also watch how much she eats and watch her poop. Poop can tell you if something else might be wrong with her. Good Luck!
