    The Pits.

No need to be afraid as Keebler employs friendly elves, unless you try to copy one of their cookie recipes. I was gonna suggest you send me all those Christmas flavored treats to me for safe keeping but then I'd be afraid that you'd try to sneak black beans into them.

    Confessions of a Carboholic

I have all those but don't last beyond a week or two, I seldom take the time or expense to drive into town willy nilly and usually only shop once every 8 weeks. It was one of the reasons why I bought a pressure cooker so I can have those things available. I may be looking for a job soon and...

Can y'all please take up a love fund for me? Challenge!

I may have an unfair advantage by ruling with an absolute dictatorship (dogs have no say). There is never more than 1 light on at a time, I keep my water heater at 95F, only wash my clothes 6 times a year and with cold water too, always line dried. I only air condition my bedroom or only heat...

Calling electronic nerds on the tin-can!

This is what I use and is connected to my Verizon cell modem which is kept stationary and plugged into the computer. Antenna I bought and is mounted to a ten foot pole on top of my 26' roof. I also needed an extra 50' of lead in wire...

Can y'all please take up a love fund for me? Challenge!

This was from one of my previous posts, if I had utility gas for hot water or heat it would be much lower as an electric water heater can easily cost $20-$50 a month, gas is less than half that. It would also be lower if I didn't have to boil weekly mashes on the stove for 8 straight hours...

    Confessions of a Carboholic

That was a lot of work in this heat carrying in all the groceries, the 100 lbs of sugar didn't help. I got 10lbs of pork and 10lbs of chicken legs for the new slow cooker someone forced me to buy, also got 2 heads of cabbage and thought were a good deal at 0.43 cents but later found it was per...

    Time for a New Roof

Yep, if you have a continuous ridge vent and by side vents mean soffit then that is all you can do. In a well insulated non conditioned attic it should follow the outside temperature within 10-20 degrees, it may go higher during the high heat of the day but should cool rapidly once the sun goes...

    Time for a New Roof

Rain doesn't seem to make any noise as some people may think, both my neighbors have metal roofs and have no issues with noise. Most of the million dollar homes on nearby Kentucky lake have metal roofs so they are good for any area.

    Time for a New Roof

I almost went with a metal roof when I replaced mine last year but being twice the cost and the fact I was gonna sell I decided on singles but would of went metal if I were staying. For my house I used 15 squares of shingles and cost me about $1000 doing it myself. You can put metal over...

Calling electronic nerds on the tin-can!

Cell jammers are highly illegal for us regular humans to possess but did find a circuit online and thought it would be fun to build so I could take it to the grocery store where all the giant hogs blocked the Twinkie aisle while yapping away oblivious to their surroundings. I never built it...

Calling electronic nerds on the tin-can!

I got my first cellphone about 1995 when I started a HVAC repair business and needed a way for customers to contact me, never thought about having the expense for personal use as it wouldn't be tax deductible. I did have to use it in a kind of an emergency once in 98' when my car battery died on...

    I NEED A BUYER!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, you have to watch what you're signing and without a doubt will pay the Realtor fees regardless who made the deal, about 6% me thinks if you signed with them. On the house I bought before this one I had signed up for new listings at a few realtor's websites, basically they just emailed me...

Anybody else grow and use ground cherries?

I tried a few when in a tavern a while back, never would of thought about eating one by just looking at it in the husk, of course drunks will eat anything and was surprised they weren't pickled. That was over 10 years ago but remembered that they were tasty, also had my first deep fat fried...

    Mead Pump

I use distillers yeast because of the volume it makes at a cheap cost and though it ferments at 60F it takes a long time. In the winter the house is usually between 40-50 degrees, before insulating it would get into the mid 30's and would prefer an igloo over a yurt any day.

    Confessions of a Carboholic

I will have to give that a try as I like slaw and kraut. I will go to the store tomorrow to buy "greens" and try this but will leave the neck bones in the ethnic section. Here's a list of today's meals: Breakfast - 1 cup (uncooked weight) white rice filled a 40oz bowl @ 140 carbs, diced 8oz...

    Confessions of a Carboholic

Here's guy that doesn't like carbs and appears to BBH's neighbor - BELLINGHAM - IHOP's mascot Suzie Pancake was assaulted by a bystander at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, outside of the restaurant at 3619 Byron St., according to Bellingham police...

    dangers of fructose

Fruit also has pectin and that makes for nasty poisonous methanol when fermented. I think orange juice has more methanol then whiskey.

    Mead Pump

It didn't as hot today like the other day where it too got to 104, only 94F now. I keep the mead and cider in the bedroom where it is kept 75F, the other ferments are kept in the kitchen at 85F which is the ideal temperature for speed. I have to make large batches in the summer because I keep...

    Confessions of a Carboholic

I had to look that up, I guess to the uneducated a slow cooker could be referred to as a poky pot. I may just have buy one and try this out.
