These kids came really quickly! Less than a minute between them!
Here is a close up of them. Buttercup has white ears.
Buttercup looks just like her mom!
And today, Buttercup and I went on our first outing.
Here she is on the passenger seat in the car.
We went to visit our cheese...
I am enjoying your adventures. We got lots of Hail here in Tucson yesterday!
My front walkway
The backyard Hail coming fast and furious.
But, even with our heaviest snowfall, it can't compare to
the snow this year in Valdez Alaska!
It is bright and sunny here today, but pretty cold...
The Nastutiums are looking so pretty, especially with the purple verbena.
I am thinking of putting in more native plants in the garden to help with my high water bills.
Here are Desert Honeysuckle and Scarlet Penstemon
I can hardly wait until the new batch of goat kids are born and weaned (middle of June, most likely!) I will then have more milk than I know what to do with! Lots of experiments in cheese making!
This last Shabbat/Saturday was the Bat Mitzvah!
Here she is being blessed before her reading.
She did most WONDERFULLY!! You could hear her on the back row!
We were all so proud of her!
Here she is practicing her speech before the Party.
One of the high points of her party that...
I LOVE KING ARTHUR!!! I get their catalogs in the mail. And that is the same way I make my braid,. But l think I like the "arms and legs" idea. I may just use that idea!
Yesterday my Bat Mitzvah student made her first Challah! I was so impressed with how well this 11 soon to be 12 year old was able to read the directions on braiding the six stranded Challah and do it just perfect her first try! Many adults stuggle with a six stranded braid. I am so very proud...
My chickens will eat them, they say they are edible, I don't like the smell of them, so I have never really tried to eat a leaf. I know the seed pods are eaten too, but I save them to plant for the next year.
I suppose I can go out and get one and try it for you...
Actually they are not bad...
My husband always said he hated it too... but... he had only been exposed to the limp, slimy, olive drab, canned stuff, his grandmother served.
Once he tasted it raw or lightly steamed, it is now one of his favorite "green" things.
I use old glass fruit juice bottles, in my cookbook bookcase in the kitchen. There are two rows of jars. That way I can easily see what I have on hand as far as rice, beans, lentils, wheat, etc... I love my jars!!
I should have centered the paper towels!! oh well...
We were out last night a bit north of the city lights, and the stars and moon were amazing!! We love to go up on Mt. Lemmon near here, a bit over 10,0000 feet... from there the stars are spectacular!!
AmericanHomesteader, I sure hope you have better soil than we do here in Tucson! If not, plan...
One of my first baby chicks from 2008, Lady Rosalind died today. She was fine, her comb was a bit pale, but it does that from time to time, so I wasn't concerned. Yesterday for some quite unknown reason, when I put new water in the pen, I picked her up and told her she was a good chiken.
This...
You can go on line and look at sites either with onion recipes, or maybe they have some sites on preserving onions...
Pickled onion slices are very nice. I use red onions, Blanch them for just a couple of seconds, then put them in a solution of white vinegar, water, sugar and salt. They make...
