I too have bald chickens, mine was due to a rooster who was over zealous in his work;)
They have always been just fine in the winter, of course they have a nice warm coop to be in most of the time.

My goats are fed alfalfa/orchard. They love it and it is cost effective here.
I only have one pet rabbit now and he gets the same, with fresh produce thrown in daily.
During the good weather he is free ranged in a nice size piece of the pasture and does just fine.I know it doesn't save me much...
Nothing too exciting-
Me and DS are taking a truck load of stuff off to goodwill,after 7 yrs of trying to get him to go though his stuff after moving into the new house,I came home from work the other day and lo and behold he had started with his closet.
Then it is over to a friends apt...
I make my dog food and use a loose "recipe" of 1/3 veggie to 2/3 protein. I also throw in some rice as filler. I use this food as extra feed/treat.
I have never canned it, always froze it, but this year freezer space is at a premium so I'am going to try canning it.
