Hubby works for Waste Management (as a truck driver now), I like them but that's because they've been really good to our family :) They don't pick up our garbage here.
Here our garbage is sent to the landfill, garbage has to be separated into 'Compostable' or 'Wet' that goes in green bags, and...
I have a question about marriage, hoping maybe someone in this thread would be able to help...
SO and I are not religious in any sense, but I guess would identify more with pagan/celtic roots than anything else. We plan to get married within the next year or two, but I don't want to have a...
Congrats on expecting... the ultrasound will be a fun surprise for SO's birthday :)
I'm due on June 27th, but my c-section is scheduled for June 20th... so you are only a few weeks behind me!
It's funny, this was actually in my bread maker when I clicked on the thread... (the recipe is for a 1.5 pound loaf, but I have 3 pound too if you need it) I LOVE kalamata olives, but a can of black olives is $1.98 here, and Kalamata olives are $7.50/pound in the bulk section so we just use...
I agree... I can't sit and wait for BYC to load (although really I used to just lurk there sometimes) on my dial-up now, and I'd be sad to not be able to come on here anymore. We're rural, and there's no wireless, no cellphone coverage, no high speed internet available... other than satellite...
:welcome
We're practically next door neighbours, I'm outside Moncton, NB... which hippy town do you live in? (You don't have to answer that if I sound too creepy asking :) ) I love Nova Scotia, we go a few times a year... we have family and friends in Halifax, Yarmouth and Amherst.
Hope...
I am the neighbour who has an aggressive dog, and in six years of living here he has NEVER gotten off his leash or out of his kennel or loose at all. I am incredibly careful with him, it's our neighbours with their goofy, friendly dogs that don't tie theirs up. They shout across 'it's okay...
oh... YUM! Now I've spent the morning on Ebay shopping for meat grinders :)
I always end up with a ton of zuchini and green tomatoes at the end of the season, this would be a great way to process a bunch. I have a food processor, but it doesn't work that great.
That's a really cool experiment... I might try something similar. We've got a couple months before it's time to start seeds here, but it will be here before I know it :)
I've always just bought cheap potting soil and thrown seeds in, but I'd like to get better and better at the gardening and...
It's actually $850/acre... 200 acres for $170,000.
We were... but with another baby on the way it is just magnifying all the problems with this house, and it's making me want to move. That and the new natural gas wells they are starting to drill down the road... nothing like hyrdofracking in...
Yep.. location makes a huge difference... for farmland here you can get 200 acres of riverfront land for about $170,000 (with a 5 bedroom house and barns, only 60 acres of that is cleared, drain-tiled fields)... or you can buy an undeveloped woodlot that is 300 acres on a dirt road without...
We had a nice, but not that big Sunday breakfast :)
bacon, french toast, and scrambled eggs
hubby cooks me breakfast every Sunday so it's lovely to not have to do anything... doesn't matter what it is, as long as I'm not the one cooking it!
According to our new 'rural development plan' you cannot have a farm on less than 49 acres... not commercially with animals anyway... DEFINITELY check the regulations of where you want to buy the land. We have rules about having barns 900 feet from property lines, only a certain number of...
We have blown in insulation in our house... it was put in here in the mid-1990's, and has settled to the point where we are now pulling all the walls down and putting pink insulation in. The previous owners did the blown in, and I'm guessing went as cheaply as possible... there are spots on the...
We live in a house just like that... when we moved in it didn't have electricity or running water... we finally paid it off last year and now we can turn it into a pretty place.
I love a challenge too. I can't wait to see photos of your old farmhouse, it sounds perfect!
We start most of our seedlings under a flourescent light... they seem to do fine, and it really doesn't take up that much room... we hang it from the dining room ceiling and the seedlings are on the top of the dresser that we use as a buffet. The light cost less than $20 brand new at a home...
My mom spends about an hour a day entering online contests... she's made herself an html file with the links for contests organized by those she can enter daily, weekly, and monthly and has a schedule to enter each type of contest. She also has a program called 'Robofile' that automatically...
It looks like something I would love to watch... unfortunately on dial up it would take me 6 years! lol
I'll watch when I visit my mom who has high speed.
