I built myself a website two weeks ago to sell my portraits from... and sold two portraits this week :)
I'm on maternity leave right now and I don't want to go back to work. I figure that I will need to steadily sell 2.5 portraits a week to replace my income (or at least what my income is...
I can't imagine how awful it would be to have to decide whether to go to a doctor or not, and whether you could afford it or not... the stress of worrying about leaving your family with that type of debt would be crushing (at least to me).
My father had a quadruple bypass one year ago, and just...
We felt it here in New Brunswick... several office buildings and public places in our capital city were evacuated because it's built on clay and not at all earthquake resistant.
You can ask around commercial greenhouses too, our neighbour scored a 40x200 piece of greenhouse plastic when he found out the greenhouses down the road change their plastic every year. It was completely free last fall and I'm sure will last a few years. :)
Around here weaners (just mutt pigs) go for around $30-60 each... there's a heritage breed farm in Nova Scotia, just across the border from us, that sells Tamworths but their weaners are $200, more if you want the papers so you can breed them. Depending on your area purebred pigs might cost a...
I had a bright yellow kitchen that I absolutely loved... I painted the walls yellow, the cabinets cream and the countertop royal blue... it was the happiest kitchen I ever had, it made me smile every morning.
Have fun with your painting! :)
We're trying to pay down the house ASAP... the closer it gets, the longer it seems to be taking to get there, but we will make our last mortgage payment in 3 months. I cannot wait... then we can start doing all the other things that have been waiting for the house to be paid off (Our mortgage...
It's been more than a year since I've posted anything in my journal, so I thought I'd just post the answers here:
1. What state/province/country are you in and what is your climate like?
New Brunswick, Canada (Part of Atlantic Canada, we are 20 minutes from the ocean)... USDA Zone 4...
I am totally going to be making these as soon as it stops raining here! That sounds SOOOO good. I love the ones from Tim Hortons, but it's just way too expensive :) I'll have to use regular milk since I don't have goats, but I think it will still work.
I've never heard of zucchini jam... what does it taste like? We're about to have a huge in-flux of zucchini in the garden so I'm looking for unique ways to use it :) (something other than muffins and bread)
mmmm.... I can't wait for the blackberries to ripen this year
I'm in atlantic canada...
I don't think I've posted it before... I make it so that the flavour is really strong... the original recipe called for 2 cans of beans and I just use one... I'll post the original recipe first:
My changes:
Add a few extra cloves of garlic
Use one can of beans, and half the olive oil as...
After a 4 day stay in the hospital when I had my daughter, I've decided there's no such thing as real food in the hospital...
In our hospital all food is pre-prepped at a mass producing factory in Quebec (thousands of miles away) and shipped here to be re-heated... even TOAST is pre-toasted a...
I don't think it needs to be deleted... I think it's a great idea and I'm going to tailor one here to my own needs, but I'm using yours as a starting point for ideas :)
In Canada you can't get mortgage insurance on a farm poperty so they require 25% down.... we do have a farm board that will give morgages to people who have a working farm (GROSS income has to be at least $5000 for the hobby farm category) and I was all excited about that, but they still require...
A woman did this at the farmers market I go to every friday... and breastfeeding in public doesn't bother me, I did it until my milk dried up and I was forced to switch to formula...
HOWEVER, this woman was one of the vendors, selling fresh produce, sitting on a stool with her boobs hanging out...
Yep... it won't work in every place... every gardening zone will be different.
If I were going to start lettuce in a cold frame in February it would still be -30C outside and I'd have to shovel 4 feet of snow off the frame :) First of June is our frost date so that's when I can start...
My hubby reads over my shoulder sometimes, and I don't mind... and I rarely say anything about him on here anyway, but I still like having my own thing so I like that I'm the only member in the house :)
