Well, I was talked into making spaghetti sauce insted of salsa by my youngest son. His favorite meal is spaghetti so I told him if he would help me I would make it. He was a huge help. He peeled half the tomatoes and chopped all of them. It turned out great! I made it a little chunkier this...
My tomatoes have finally started to turn so today I will be putting up salsa. By the end of the week I hope to do tomatoes and spaghettil sauce as well!!
I personally love the ball blue book. But then again most of the recipes I use are variations on some of the recipes in the book. I will make something in a small batch and if I do not like it I will cange the seasoning etc. untill I do like it. As far as the amt of sugar goes I guess it does...
We have two generators. One smaller one that was purchased to run our small cabin and pump to water the garden. (our garden and cabin are on a different parcel of propery) The second one is larger, we purchased it after going through a tornado. The power was off here for almost two weeks...
My favorite: Roast Chicken (my own) baked potaoes (from the garden), sweet corn (from the garden) and ice cream( homemade but from purchased milk etc.) with raspberry sauce (canned by me)

I have a friend who sells fresh herbs and some flowers at two different farmers markets. She seems to do quite well with them but I don't know any fine details. I will ask her and try to get back to you. I am a little busy as this is county fair week and we are very active in 4-H. It will...
I too am guilty of using the computer way too much. It seems as if life at my house would end if something happened to one of our three computers. DH and I have one that is for business and that I use for more social purposes. ;) My younger two boys have an older one that they play games on...
I recently found some at an auction. I too use them to store dry goods such as rice and pastas. They look pretty sitting on the shelves in the pantry! Remind me of my Grandma!
I guess I am different from many of you...
We had always been very busy working folk. I worked three jobs, DH worked two. We had strange hours and found ourselves eating out way too much and depending on junk food and prepackaged foods to make our lives alittle easier. About 8 years ago now...
The first time I heard of using solar lights for emergencies was from a friend of mine. She had solar path lights. When the power went off during a storm and she knew it would be a while, she went and grabbed one of the path lights. She said it lit up the room. She said it was not super...
I think solar lights would work great in a power outage. I have been watching for them to go on clearance or sale around here, but that hasn't happened yet. We have also been having more storms lately. Well, maybe not more but definately more severe.
