    Stop bed wetting

My son saw a natropath who told me my sons bed wetting at age 10 was a result of allergies. She took him off glutin and the food he was allergic to and got processed food out of his diet and the problem went away. He was also given supplements which included magnesium. We just washed a lot of...

    Making your own shampoo??

She could also try dissolving baking soda in water and working that into her scalp. Then rinse out. For contitioner pour on vinegar diluted with water. Let it stay on a couple of minutes and rinse out. I have been doing this for months and it works great. On rare occasions I use a home made...

Ducks - are they worth it?

I have both Myscovy and Welsh Harlequin ducks. We also used to think that Scovies were uglier than dirt...until we got some. I thought tge WH would be better egg layers than the Scovies. They are about the same and the Scovy eggs are so much bigger than the WH. We love our Scovy drake, Cocoa...

Oh yuck...now I know why I avoid processed food

I knew processed food was no good for me, but the yuck factor just went up a few more notches when I read about reconditioning food. That is just fancy talk for recycling something that should be thrown out to begin with. Did anyone else read this last month...

Got us a Kitchenaid Mixer!! Now what?!

We love our kitchenaide. We use it several times a week. I have the grinder attachment and it does a good job on small amounts. The grain mill does not grind grain as fine as I prefer. I have a K-tech mill that makes pastry flour fine flour. Although loud, it is fantastic.

    Do you use grass-fed beef?

We eat grass fed beef. It is very nicely marbled and quite tender, unless I over cook it in the grill. Roasts I cook in a Dutch oven with 2 large onions quartered, salt, pepper and garlic and enough water to mostly cover it all. I cook it in the oven at 350 F for about 2-2.5 hours. It falls...

What are you having for your Christmas meal this year?

We raised geese this year. Lyla, may she rest in peace, ;) is going to be our guest of honor this year. Can't wait. I've always heard of Christmas goose and now we get to try some. The kids are gluten intolerant so we get to change up the menu some.

    Homeschooling... pros and cons

Regarding diplomas, in the states I have HSd in, HS is considered a private school and as such is authorized to issue a diploma. An increasing number of colleges and universities are courting HS students and will accept home issued diplomas. The main thing to keep in mind is that HS is a...

TV..do you have it? Do you watch it?

We have 2 TVs. One is in the bedroom and is hooked up to a DVD player. We do not have cable and only receive broadcast TV, none of which is helpful in our lives. We watch the occasional NOVA or Nature on PBS and sometimes History detectives. Oh, yes and the olympics when it comes around. The...

    liquid laundry soap

Mariane, I just put the vinegar in with the detergent. I used to put it in the fabric softener cup but noticed that it drained right out into the tub anyway. Regarding odors that the soap doesn't always get out, I wait to smell the clothing until it comes out of the drier as that gets rid of...
