    Soap Making 101

Most soapers I know taste their soap to see if they get a zing. If not then all the lye is used ip and you are good. The drying out is usually all that happens during curing. I discount my water ( reduce the amount) so my soap is pretty hard when it comes out of the molds at 12 hours or less. I...

    Bubblingbrooks Journey - Salut!

Sounds like you and I had the same idea. A couple of days ago the kids and I dispatched 2 hens, 4 drakes and 1 goose. Then today we dispatched 4 roosters, 1 egg eating hen, and 2 drakes. Everything is in the freezer. I traded hearts, livers, and gizzards with the neighbor for garden produce and...

    Soap Making 101

Coconut oil is probably your best bet for a very cleansing oil. If your recipe is heavily weighted toward coconut oil you will want to cut it as soon as it is cool and can hold it's shape as it gets hard pretty fast. I tend to discount my water to 25%, so that is a factor in hardening too.

    "We Buy Houses!"

Going further into debt is never a good idea. It is modern slavery. Refinancing can make the monthly payments easier, but have you really done the math to see what it will truly cost you long term?

Food Processors - How big is big enough?

I have a cuisinart. I don't know how big it is, but there are times I wish it were bigger. The label on it is a Custom Prep 11...I guess that means 11 cups, but I use it a lot for mixing gluten free pancakes and such so i wish it would hold more liquids. It does great with cutting veggies and...

Saving fallen leaves for the goats

I'm gathering up the leaves that fall and putting them down for bedding for the geese and ducks. We care for the yard of our elderly neighbor and he has 2 huge cotton wood trees out front. They are a huge source of leaves. I had more than I needed last year for all my flower beds and garden...

article from thehomeschoolmom.com (everyone should read this) :)

Welcome!! Yes a mission statement can be helpful. What may be more helpful is to make a list of the reasons you started homeschooling in the first place. It is good to keep it handy for those days when that yellow bus is looking real good. When you get those days sometimes it is time for a...
