:hugs Deep breath. Pray. List out the pros and cons. Talk to everyone involved. Pray. Get everything in writing - possibly looked at by a lawyer, especially concerning money and the "someone else is going to pay for this" Pray. Kudos to you for considering it. Make sure that it's not only...

Gee, those 2 little kicker bales of hay that I got Friday don't seem so cool anymore! :( My mom calls yesterday to ask what the girls need for clothes, because they were at a huge rummage sale. Go through the list - again, and then remind her that I need a sewing machine. I get told, if I...

    Homestead Careers

Work from home: yes, because after being unemployed for 2 years, I like being a stay-at-home-mom. Yes, because I do contract work for the government, mainly during the spring and summer, doing farm audits. Pros, I see my children every day. I get to do farm visits and talk to farmers - some...

    Brandied Fruit - Pears/Apples/etc

I have absolutely no idea. I was going with the plain, boring Wisconsin fruits - nothing too exotic here! If you can can kiwis in a simple syrup, there shouldn't be any reason why you couldn't brandy them, but I don't know how that would work.

$1000 Gift Card - What would YOU buy?

Start with the stuff you HAVE to have, so you don't feel guilty about not having that stuff on hand, especially when it's free. :) THen, tell hubby he can have $200 to spend on you and you can spend $200 on him - more fun to buy things for each other. Then, if you have anything left -...

    Cinnamon Apple Rings

If you don't like a strong cinnamon flavor, I would not use the red hots, but would boil the water with cinnamon sticks for a few minutes, pull out the sticks, then add the sugar to make the syrup. To get the red color - which is totally not necessary, but seriously pretty, just add some red...

    Cinnamon Apple Rings

I'm a cinnamon addict, so I actually usually add some more powdered vietnamese cinnamon, but with the red hots, it's still really good. They are sweet because of the syrup, but there is definitely a cinnamon flavor.

Recipes are posted in the recipe section. My husband "couldn't" find a cherry tree, so he wanted a plum tree and got it. I did manage to get 9 pints of strawberry rhubarb jam done last night. I don't understand how I can double a recipe that makes 6 half pint jars, expecting to get 6 pint...

    Cinnamon Apple Rings

This is from my 1959 Farm Journal Cookbook. I've tweaked it a little bit. Here's the biggest tweak, I just core, peel, and slice my apples into wedges instead of rings and pack as many pint jars as I want to do. Here's the basic recipe for the liquid, but I always have more liquid than the 4...
