I feel for you k0xx, Dh is 60 and collects a retirement from his previous job. Because we married late and he had child support to pay for about 10 years, we could not afford a house until 10 years ago. He retired from his job (hazardous duty job) when we decided to move to VT. His pension came...
k0xxx, I believe you are correct, or at least that is how I understood the 6400 figure was derived. I don't think most people think about how many hands each item we buy goes through. There are very few things that are not made up of subparts from all over the globe. Even food, with the...
Great looking tote! I am jealous of anyone whose husband would think to claim that fabric. My DH wouldnt think twice about passing it by, but . . .if it was a tool or something fishing related, he would be on it in a flash! I guess I know where his priorities are. :smack
Unfortunatly many of the people pushing this bill have large investments that will pay off if/when it becomes law. I FAXed, emailed, called my Rep to request that he vote NO because it would hurt many Vermonters who are on fixed incomes or who are low income. Much of our state falls into one or...
This is the email I received from a TEA Party friend of mine yesterday:
Speaker Nancy Pelosi has put cap-and-trade legislation on a forced march through the House, and the bill may get a full vote as early as Friday. The whole point of cap and trade is to hike the price of electricity and...
I received an email alert today that notified me that the House of Reps will be voting on cap and trade tomorrow, It also said that the cost to the average family of 4 would be around $6400 more a year once it was fully in place. I don't know about the rest of you, but I cant afford an...
When I shut my freezer down because it is empty I first unplug it. I then let it defrost (it is not frost free). I will then wipe it out with a rag and apple cider vinigar and then place a block in to prevent the door from closing. Keeping the door open and the ACV help keep things fresh.
I save things like the small center stalks and leaves from celery in baggie in the freezer. I use them in soups, especially chicken stew or chicken & dumplings.
Another item that I save is the various fats that are created when cooking some meats. The chicken fat that is on the surface of...
I know what you mean when you said that getting the diagnosis was a relief, miss_thenorth . When I went on line and saw that many of the symptoms for lupis were things that I had been complaining about to one Dr or another for several years, at least, I felt a relief toknow that the things I had...
Thank you all for comming to my "party". Today was a new day and I am feeling better about my diagnosis. I have been able to do some reasearch on line. I find that knowledge is comforting when you are faceing something that may be scarry. I do not know what type or types of lupis I have. I am...
I am feeling pretty sorry for myself tonight. I went to the Dermatologist to day to have s stitch taken out from where they took a biopsy last week. I was not too concerned. I doubted that the biopsy would find anything out of the ordinary. I was wrong. My doctor told me today that one of the...
I was very buisy today. I made rhubarb jelly, no added sugar blueberry jam and I also dehydrated and canned hamburg. I have been trying to get these things accomplished for the last 4 days without success. It rained today, so I was unable to work in the garden. That is why these projects...
We currently have 4 vehicles. We have gotten to the point of a used car lot because the status of our vehicles gets down graded as their reliability is diminished. We have our "work/yard" truck, a 1994 Chevy S10 with over 180K miles. This truck was everyday transportation for DH until gas...
I went to a cider mill that used an old time Cider Press to press cider for the tourists, last fall. The press was basicly a tall vice with a square board on the bottom and another attached to the screw for the vice. The apples were coarsly chopped before being placed in the press. The process...
I bought 2 dozen pint jars at Big Lots and paid $6.50 a dozen. I also purchased regular jar lids for $1.25 (I think). I do know that Big Lots has the cheapest prices around these parts for jars and lids.
