does anyone have companies call you about your neighbors???

I have both had call made about me and received calls like this- but I let people know that they might be called and was told that I had been listed as a reference neighbor too. I wouldn't respond to anyone just calling out of the blue either.

Well- I hope that this reverses soon

Well- it must say something about Dot that the buck she's with is the herd sire of about 20 does. He's been around the block- but not so fast as with Dot chasing him. :D

What to make with leftover ribs?

A microwave will get them cooked in a hurry, espeically as they are already baked to some extent. I looked at this because I never heard of a leftover rib either.

No- not alpha- just young and enthusiastic I guess.

Well- I hope that this reverses soon

I just got a call from the lady who owns the buck that my doe Dottie is visiting. She was just dropped off yesterday and it appears that Dotti (that little hussy) is chasing the poor buck all over the place. I hope she realizes that this is not likely to work well- although the lady did say...

How we went from $42,000 to $6,500 and lived to tell about it!

I can remember hearing this about social security 40 years ago. So I suspect that it will probably survive awhile longer. :)

    FYI on Flu scam

CDC has received reports of fraudulent emails (phishing) referencing a CDC sponsored State Vaccination Program. The messages request that users must create a personal H1N1 (swine flu) Vaccination Profile on the cdc.gov website. The message then states that anyone that has reached the age of 18...

How we went from $42,000 to $6,500 and lived to tell about it!

Bee- I do see the creativity and courage in their article. I guess I spent too much time in my life listening to people shine it on. Reading about people who have "creative" lifestyles- who do unconventional things and make it sound so good. Meanwhile I got to see the dirty little truths-...

    TanksHill...Roll on!!

I'm sorry you lost your pet. It's hard. I don't know about others but I always get depressed around time to send the kids off- I call it "freezer camp" because I have a hard time simply saying the truth- I am killing some sweet (and not so sweet) animal to eat it. I feel very bad about it...

    Devastated, coyote attacked our lamb

I put off reading this- it is so painful to lose livestock like this. I have no advice to offer, just sympathy. :(

How we went from $42,000 to $6,500 and lived to tell about it!

Interesting to read but I really don't trust articles about the beauty of that kind of life when nothing is mentioned about things going wrong. I spent too much of my life hearing the "rest of the story." Like the man who broke his leg, was a charity case in the hospital, but still lost his...

Dace got me thinking about meal planning.

Yeah- I live too far out to go to town for "just one thing." So I guess the adaption is that I eat what I have. Saved by the distance. :)

The three month spending drought is over- and how.............

Dace- one of the things that helps me know what I have on the shelves is that I put a little lable on the shelfedge with the same of the item- I'd put "olive oil back" or salt or something. Then I know where the buried items are. I'm lucky in that my big storage area has those melimine...

Dace got me thinking about meal planning.

It just occured to me that my main change during my non-shopping period was that I ate what I had- no giving in to cravings. If you have lots of pasta, rice or beans, you can have variety by adding stuff as sauce. I made a lot of different sauces to go over pasta and rice- most sauces had meat...

The three month spending drought is over- and how.............

Calculate? Calculate? Hmmm........ I never thought of that. :D No, I just have a supply of things like pasta, spaghettie sauce, Chinese staples, etc. I have lots of meat in the freezer as I raise my own- I also keep butter and frozen fruit in the freezer. Somethings like potatos and onions...

    Irresponsible People

Actually most medical policies say things like- we pay 80% of a scheduled amount for this procedure. Which means that they may pay a percentage but if your medical provider charges more than the scheduled amount, you owe. Even catastrophic coverage, where they say they pay for all costs over a...

Are the Foxfire books still in print? They are great.

    Recommend me a book, please.

Oh that is just too broad- give us a hint about what you would like to get. My favorite useful book is Rodale's Garden Problem Solver- by Jeff Ball. I refer to it many times each year. Sort of a Joy of Cooking type thing for the veggie garden. I have a couple of pest and disease reference...

The three month spending drought is over- and how.............

Today I went to Costco- bought lots of things to bulk up the supplies I used up. It's amazing how few things can total up to so much. Almost all food. Still, it seems that the one shopping trip still was wel under how much I would spend if I went shopping in three months. I did not replace a...
