I just read the Island of the Blue Dolphins and found it confusing. At the very end, I read that it was inspired by a true story but as a child's book, didn't you find it rather brutal and death ridden?
This is a case where I would write my Congressman and Senator. They need to know that this is important to their constituents so they don't just drift along with other things.
Ask their offices to keep you informed of progress- you need updates to get information asap.

Usually stories like this are something simple or pretty non-meaningful. More info needed.
I'm heading into my third month of little or no grocery shopping. I did go to the store for some milk and bought some (shame on me) taco shells, shredded cheese and tomatos for tacos. I used my ground goat for the meat. It was soooooo good. But basically, I have been using things like...

I was reading on another site about the pumpkin pie shortage issue. When I went to open the thread, I thought that these survivialists types would be having fun about city people panicking over a pie shortage.
I should have known better- as far as I have ever seen, they had only one serious...
After years of hit and miss sharpening of my wood working tools, a woman showed me that if you look straight on at the edge, rotating it back and forth a bit, you can see the light glint off the parts of the edge that are NOT sharp. When the edge is perfect, you can't see any light reflecting...
To plant in them, I just put some scraps of landscape fabric on the bottm, linded the sides with hay, then fille with potting soil- I used them for growing herb as it drailed so well and they grew through the top sides and made a bushing little box that I could move in or out as cold dictated.
