I am really a hoarder when it comes to jars and lids. However, now that I realize I should remove rings before storing canned goods- I understand that I don't need 6 million rings!! You really just keep using the same few over and over.... We purchase pretzels from BJ's Wholesale Club, that...
I have some money in a retirement account- and I had the bright idea to cash it out, to pay off credit card debt. I called the financial planner that "invests" the money for my employer... When he explained all the penalties and taxes, the money just about evaporated into thin air. I chose not...
I have been reading a year, minimum- best to wait two! The apple cider was a lot quicker. It was drinkable after about two months. I am sure it will get better with age, but it isn't awful!
Isn't it exciting?? Strawberry wine sounds delish! I just tried hard cider and my first batch of mead. Putting it together seemed pretty easy- the waiting is the hard part! Enjoy!
I just haven't bought socks, undies, bras in ages!! That is how cheap I am! I will have to splurge on some socks, soon. Wearing them in my gardening clogs has made them ready for the garbage! My daughter has a Savers near her, and she bought me a bra there (new with tags!).
All cooking from scratch. Make my own bread and rolls on a weekly basis. It has been years since I bought a loaf of bread! Have a large garden, chickens for eggs and stew pot, bees, fruit trees and berry bushes. Trying my hand at mead making and have a batch of hard cider going. Use rags...
We did it!!! I now have hard apple cider in gallon jugs, and my first batch of mead in the guest room closet! Started the apple cider a month ago and siphoned it out yesterday. Had to try a taste- I was expecting the worst (listerine, etc). But, it is already quite good and I am sure will...
Don't know if you are into canning, but canned potatoes are wonderful. They taste great, have a wonderful texture- and are almost cooked- so they are great for a quick meal....Super handy for fried potatoes.
There is nothing better than coming home, after work and smelling dinner!! It takes a few extra minutes in the morning, but boy do I love having dinner ready! Crockpot's rule! I used mine in the summer and didn't notice that it made the kitchen much warmer. Certainly less than the oven would....
Made the calendula salve this morning! Thanks so much for the recipe! I had another batch of dried flower petals- so I am infusing more oil, as we speak... If you haven't made anything with beeswax before- it really is like magic. You stir it in to liquid and in a very few minutes, it is firm...
Oh, Marianne! How lucky is that?? I had a cockatiel fly onto my deck once. I was able to lure him into a cage- and he was a wonderful pet for many, many years...but, a peacock!!! I would think I had died and went to heaven!
