I thought he had a few good songs, even though I can not think of any at the moment; but for the most part, I thought he was freaky with all that plastic surgery. The evening news was showing clips when he was just a kid. Of course, that was when he actually looked like a human, and not an...
Hello and welcome to the forum! I can not give any advice about canning because I am in the process of trying to learn myself so I will (for the most part) be just reading this thread. I have the equipment, supplies, books etc. It is just a matter of getting started. We have a bunch of yellow...
From what I have read, it has to be watered daily. I am just curious to know if I can actually grow anything in such a shallow depth of growing media. I would like to make some salad boxes, which are smaller, so I can also fit them into my cold frames when the weather gets colder. Here is...
I was looking around my house for some other things that I could use for a salad table. I remembered that we have a table that sits outside in the backyard that is made out of scrap lumber, and I also have some cat litter boxes that I bought at the Dollar Store. I used the litter boxes to hold...
I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried using a salad table? I think the salad table would be a neat way to grow certain vegetables that do not have a deep root like leaf lettuce and spinach, especially with limited space. Someone on another forum that I know was very successful using her...
The show has a suspenseful murder/mystery plot to it. I think there are only 13 episodes; and the last episode, all questions are supposedly answered. It does not have as much blood and gore in it like many modern horror films (which I do not like watching), although I think it does somewhat...
We do not have cable TV so we got the converter box for our television. I could not see buying a new television when we do not really watch TV that much. Having said that, I will confess; one of the shows that I do like to watch is Harper's Island, which is a thriller/mystery type show that...
OK, thanks. I will look for those the next time I go to the store. At the moment, I am having a problem with contact dermatitis on my hands, which I have battled with for quite some time. So I need to protect my hands as much as possible. I think part of the problem is washing my hands so much...
Yeah, wearing gloves seems to take away part of the fun of gardening. I just tried to pick beans with leather gloves on. That was very frustrating. :barnie I am going to look for some gloves that fit tightly to my hands for certain tasks. I have huge yellow squash plants this year, and it looks...
From now on, I will try and remember to put my gloves on when I do anything in the garden. I found a black widow in one of my garden beds today. These three beds had shade cloths over them where I was experimentally (trying something new) growing spinach, lettuce, and radishes using shade. I was...
Oh, thanks for mentioning the Encyclopedia of Country Living. I actually have that book on my shelf and had forgotten all about it. Unfortunately, I am having trouble logging into the BYC forum so I can not even do a search on that website for information.
Sometimes when people complain of stopped up ears, the problem is actually a build up of ear wax in one or both ears, which is very common. Without looking into the ear canal directly with an otoscope, that would be difficult to know for sure. If you suspect this is the problem, you can buy a...
Your guess is as good as mine on that one, but I did get the impression awhile back that WHO was all prepared to officially declare a pandemic, and it almost seemed as if they were silenced or something. According to the WHO's definition of a pandemic, it appears that we are technically already...
Not that this really changes anything, but it appears the WHO might actually declare a full pandemic after all. About a month ago, I read similar articles where WHO was on the verge of announcing a full blown pandemic, then nothing happened. So I am guessing some people in high places were...
Composting is certainly not an exact science, but the information suggests that composting animal manure does reduce the risks of introducing pathogens into the soil. Some agriculture extension websites do not recommend introducing fresh manure into vegetable garden soil, but obviously many...
I know there are different schools of thought on this subject, but I am thinking along the lines of introducing harmful pathogens in soil using fresh manure in the garden. If growing certain vegetables like root crops, lettuce or spinach, that could be an issue.
Maybe not, I was just reading on another forum where some people use it directly in the garden, like Dace said. Personally, I would compost it first, just to be on the safe side.
