    Skin Allergy/Irritation in Dogs

Well, I guess I have a plan now, a couple things to try. Her skin is not flared up as bad today (not anywhere near as bad as it got last time), but she is dry and itchy, so I'll address that first. Oh, I could never put her outside if MY life depended on it. We'd both be heartbroken! She is...

    Skin Allergy/Irritation in Dogs

I did like that the diamond senior had the glucosamine and chondroitin. I've been giving her that as a supplement for over a year and it very quickly eliminated all symptoms of arthritis that she was starting to show. I had a very limited selection of "senior" dog foods to pick from. Our...

    Skin Allergy/Irritation in Dogs

It wasn't the dogfood that triggered it, not the Diamond brand anyway. She was on Purina at the time and had been her whole life (corn based) and the Senior Diamond is wheat based. I did read the ingredients label and while it is a step up from the Purina, right now it is about the best I can...

    Skin Allergy/Irritation in Dogs

I have a 9-year-old pitbull that has suddenly developed some kind of skin allergy/irritation, possibly dry skin? I took her to the vet and we at first assumed she must be allergic to the Christmas tree because this was the first time I had gotten a pine and that was the only thing new or...

suggestions for dehydrating and root cellaring?

"Root Cellaring" by Mike and Nancy Bubel I have an older copy of this book, passed down to me from my FIL. It is an awesome, very informative book and will give you many ideas on how to grow and preserve (in many different methods) root cellar vegetables. Lots of pics and diagrams too.

    Adult Truths

:gig Oh, there's some hard truths there...LOL Definitely gonna print this one out! I do, however, know how to fold fitted sheets. Unfortunately, every time I fold them I recall who taught me -- an ex-boyfriend who was in the Army...so maybe I should just roll them up in a ball and...

WV DNR Website - You can now buy your license online!

I'm in just north of Charleston, on the border of OH. We don't have any good trout streams or rivers (I'd really like to learn fly fishing if I did!) We have a couple of small, man-made lakes that they stock. We just pop on some powerbait and bottom fish for trout...prop up your rod, sit back...

WV DNR Website - You can now buy your license online!

I don't think they had this service last year, at least I didn't notice. I always get on there to check the trout stocking schedule and found this today. Usually I procrastinate and forget to get my license, or I'll get to Walmart and forget to bring my DL. This is super convenient and if you...

    Taxes!!

I look forward to tax season too. Ours has gotten a little more complicated the past few years, but I still do my own taxes and will till the day I die because I refuse to give away any more of my money than I have to! We always get a refund. We've adjusted our withholding several times over...

    Do you heat your coop?

I imagine with meat birds, you probably would want to heat the coop for better feed conversion so they would put more energy into growing rather than burning it to keep warm. I only raise mine in the spring, so that never occurred to me, but it does make sense they would do that for winter.

    Do you heat your coop?

My coop is actually just one end of a rough-cut sided barn, really too big of a space, so drafts are my main concern. I use big sheets of cardboard, stapled to the wall to insulate the inside walls on the two sides facing the prevailing winds. I leave the back wall alone to help with...

Want to come back on this forum after almost two years!

That's good! :thumbsup Yeah, pregnancy and raw chicken don't mix! I've gotten much stricter with my flock too. With the cost of feed, I have to focus on production. If they don't put out, they go to the pot!

What a sweet story and you wrote it so well! I could just picture Amos sitting on that horse. It brought a few tears to my eyes. Hope you win! ETA: I passed it on through Facebook to a few of my horsey friends. I bet they'll vote too. Do we vote once a day, or just once now...

    DIY detergent, toothpaste and mowthwash

It doesn't nowadays. They state that on the back of the bar. It can be irritating to the skin and of course the eyes if applied in full potency. You wouldn't want to bathe with it! :P Just for cleaning. I've used it to wash deer hides and can't believe how good it makes them smell. I've...

    DIY detergent, toothpaste and mowthwash

I am trying to decide if I want to mess with mixing the liquid kind or if maybe the powdered version might be more convenient for me. How do they compare on cleaning power? I am leaning toward the powder version.... Look at this recipe...
