Not only do we have the kindness factor , we are usually physically easier targets. If i was a thug I'd pick a woman to rob instead of some big bubba too ! Probably why I had fear and my big bubba hubby ( also a fireman btw , lol) didn't. I should have firem3 over to talk some sense into him.
I agree with reinbeau , watch people's carts the next time you shop. Some of them will make your jaw drop. I'm always cart peeking. I get tickled checking out behind them, too , knowing I got a lot more actual FOOD for half of what they paid for all that junk and we are still eating better ...

Neither would I spend that much in NC but I don't buy all that junk they bought either. See all the cases of pop and bottles of juice stacked up back there ? lol If you noticed ,that includes carry out meals they bought and didn't cook too . I can shop for the 7 of us for under 100 a week...

I think it's still possible to eat cheaply though if you stay away from convenience foods , and grow and preserve as much of your own produce as you can. Plus it's healthier , just takes more time .
My best girlfriend , when she lived in Chicago would carry to and from work with her, a bag of lunch meat sandwiches to hand out to the beggars who wanted money " for food ". She did want to help if they were really hungry , but didn't want to buy anybody booze, drugs, ciggs etc. Of course ...
