I can't believe you posted this TODAY. I was thinking about this in the shower this morning (yes, I know that's kinda weird but that's where I do a lot of my thinking. Sometimes it's the only time I have to myself :P ), but anyway, we have been talking about getting a side of beef and I was...
Thanks! I pretty happy with them. We slice 'em thin, bred 'em and fry 'em up. I made cauliflower au gratin to go with it. We have probably another 10 eggplants on the bush. :weee
Hi Nikki!! I just posted on your intro. Welcome neighbor!! :welcome
Welcome from Chalmette, LA!! Howdy neighbor! I love Ponchatoula. I'd love to move there, but it's too far for me to travel for work. One day I'll get to live in the country. One day. Glad to see you are enjoying it! :welcome
Today's harvest
I am not sure about the corn. It was ready, but really, really, really, tiny. I am happy with the eggplant and beans thought, so that's what's for dinner!
The corn is coming in, beans are doing well, and there are about 15 eggplants on the bush. I'm starting to see some flowers on the pea vines. Tomato, pepper, squash, and cukes are all still tiny. Don't know if they will do anything at all. I'm excited about the corn though. I've never grown corn...

There are three of them, Mom, Dad, and Son. Like Bubblingbrooks said, if only more of us just bought locally it would make a big impact. With the money they saved growing more of their own and bartering, the usual grocery money can be spent on locally grown. I think that's great. So, the food...

The family has a blog too. http://ayearwithoutgroceries.blogspot.com/
I'd like to give that a try. Maybe not for a year, but...
