    Who should get our business?

I would shop around in one day to get the best deals you can.

    Bee~ Journal of then...

Not apologizing, just being polite. I was stepping into a conversations that I wasn't already involved in. I also say, Thank you, Bless you, etc. ;) Something I learned about journals you intend to use in conjunction with the law is write everything down as just plain facts. Do not add your...

    Bee~ Journal of then...

Beekissed, excuse me for posting here but, I have dealt with ALZ and the many problems the family faces. My FIL was real with jealousy, sexual, and abuse. What we ended up doing was telling the doctors he had no place to go one time when he was in the hospital (Everyone refused to take him in)...

    ask the government for cheese

cjparker is right. I have a BIL that has cancer. They have bills piled high with good insurance. Their bills collected when they reached the limit to some of the treatments the first year. I can't imagine the bills that would have piled up without. He would be dead today as there is no way they...

    Psoriasis

Thank you everyone. My friend had a chance to get onto a computer today and read this thread for herself. :) She can't do the sun thing as with her meds being exposed to the sun will blister her in 10 mins. but, she is going to try some of the other things suggested. Hopefully, one of them will...

Anyone ever free range Cornish X?

You'd have to have the nest boxes on the ground. I have my cornishXs with the mix mutt chicks I hatched. The mutt chicks are far more active than the cornishX ones. And when the cornishX ones do walk any distance it's more of a wattle. They are funny to watch. One thing I haven't had trouble...

    Mosquito repellent

Back to the Listerine, I've been using it for those nasty little knats. It works well with them. I spray the top of my head and my arms and I don't get bitten by them. If I don't spray, they eat me alive.

Anyone ever free range Cornish X?

I'm raising my first batch of cornishXes right now. The one thing I have noticed is they don't move very far. I have to have mine penned due to predators but, they have a good sized run and still I shoo them around to get them to move some. If you free range them you will need to have a feeder...

Interesting dairy farm-- definately not a homestead

She's just doing her job and heading off any trouble. We were winding down but, posts were coming fast and she may not have seen that because it could have been while she was typing. :)

Interesting dairy farm-- definately not a homestead

Yes, larger farms have more requirements with their manure, storage and spreading but, I think at this point it's at more of a state level than federal--I could be wrong there though. Our milk is tested every pickup, that is the same for every farm no matter the size. They test the loads for...

Interesting dairy farm-- definately not a homestead

As I have pointed out many times, the farm supports itself. Yes, we choose to add to the income so we can pay stuff off faster but, the farm can make the regular payments and even a bit more. The farm can pay for all we want except to pay the loans of quickly. We choose not to be buried in debt...

Were you or were you not, just trying to say we were not a real business? It sure seemed that you were to me.

Interesting dairy farm-- definately not a homestead

We are milking 30 cows. If Barb's feed bill is $40,000 a month she isn't small. She may not be the huge farm in the story but, she isn't small. More like the middle. We are not making a big profit. As you have pointed out expenses eat what one is paid to the farmer. A farmer farms because...

Interesting dairy farm-- definately not a homestead

It is what I've been trying to tell you. As far as I can see, you have no right to point a finger at a real business making it when you avoid taxes on your farm so you can live better. Your not making it that way because you are not paying all of your expenses.

Interesting dairy farm-- definately not a homestead

Ah but, you are the one that pointed out large farms provide insurance to their workers, I just pointed out that it's not always so anymore. Not lucky, it's being smaller that afforded us to be able to do it. If we were big, we couldn't have done it and would have had to truck in from outside...

Interesting dairy farm-- definately not a homestead

We pay income taxes. It is a real business and can support our family. Many small business people also have a spouse that works out. The business supports itself and that is what a real business should do. I gave an example of what we choose to do. How many can pay off a loan on 40 acres in 4...
