i know a couple of guys that were really into those bugs & busses
however the supply up here in new hampshire is really pi$$ poor
almost all are so far gone that they are just plain junk
maybe if you found 1 from the south

if your looking for a vehicle with no eletronics you have to get back into the 80's
even then many had a really odd carb with strange electric wehams & widgets
so that takes you bak to the early 80's with most cars
though some trucks just had a plain old school carb up till about 1986
a friend...
i have found that any change in the flock can trigger the roos to go into attack mode
i had a big old buff leghorn in with the rest of my flock
the idea was due to the fact that he had big spurs he could protect the flock
well all was well till i added a couple redstar hens that i had rehabed
i...
a rooster only wants 2 things
1 to fill your backyard with his chicks
2 to defend your hens so he can fill your backyard with his chicks
once they get old enough yes they will fight
if they grow up together it doesn't seem to be as bad
but even then if they are short on hens they might go at...
i like to get a 1995 or older car/truck
the reason is the newer OBS2 computers that the feds said had to be in all of the
1996 & newer cars & light truckscan be a real paid.
the silly computer turns your check engine light on
you take the thing to the shop & they say something like
(well it...
i am on 2 other chicken sites
1 big & 1 small site
i started on BYC & it clearly wasn't for me
this site might not be all that active but atleast you can more or less say what you feel needs to be said
if someone is on the wrong track someone here will try to point it out
i see no harm in doing...
well 1st off , don't ever name them
pets have names our chickens here don't for just that reason
we get free roosters all of the time from craigslist
lots of people buy straight run & end up with WAY more roos than they need
they either don't know how or can't process them
so we go scoop em up &...
unless you plan on baking the chicken in the oven (like for christmas) we just skin them
check out youtube & you will see how EZ skinning can be.
good luck

you never want just 2 hens
1st of all 2 isn't a flock & chickens are flock amimals
they will not be all that relaxed if you just get 2 (they are not dogs or cats)
also what if 1 dies??
the 2nd one will have no one to roost with & no one to try to stay warm with in the coop
good luck

my wife & i want to do the same type of thing in a few more years
however i think i'll go with a couple of goats instead of a cow
goats are less picky about their food than a cow is.
now as far as the stumps go i will share an old time trick
1st get a few pigs
2nd pen them up near some stumps...
i built an extra large coop so i can put a couple of rabbit cages in 1 corner
still have to get the building closed in the rest of the way & i'll see about making cages
what size cages should i have?
i'll start with 2 , should the doe cage be bigger because she will be with kits at some point...
well Ninny i can't answer all your questions .....however
i can tell you that you always want to be able to walk in your coop
if DH will ever have anything to do with these birds then make sure he can get
in there if needed to feed, water, & remove any sick birds
no one wants to go into a coop...
well it looks like i will go with these folks

i want buff orpingtons & if i buy 50 i can get 25 bonus chicks FOR FREE
that deal is hard to beat!!!

Oh these are English Orpingtons, there are only 2 lines of them in the country & these birds parents are from both lines
i already had two blue 50% english orps here in my young flock that i'll add in with the 7 i just got once the youngins grow out some.
