okay, this probably sounds rather stupid, but seeing as your a nice bunch and I am going to ask anyway!!! when you use coconut cream does it keep a coconut smell. I do looooove a coconut smell, but i don't want to use sythetic chemicals, kinda seems a waste of lovely natural ingredients to me...
Sorry if I have it wrong, but I was sure I had seen somewhere on here that someone made sea salt.
How do you do it. seeing as I live a on the Pacific Ocean I figure I should have a go at making some if it is possible.
Thanks in advance!
For me I try to make as much of our foods as I can myself. I think it's important to lead by example, good whole foods that we all eat, having fruits and vege avaliable at all times to snack on. I limit the amount of bought snack food that is eatten by just not bying it.

Has anyone had any trouble with using yoghurt from a store as the culture? every single time I have tried it it hasn;t worked. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
I use about 600ml of milk, just under a pint (forgive my metric measurements!!!:D) and I have added anywhere from a tablespoon to half...
Hi free, I have read the whole thing, and keep coming back to it, and really enjoy it. I guess I don't really reply to anything even though I come on here a couple of times a day, but because I don't have my little farm yet I feel like I don't have much to contribute. But i SO love reading about...
Well actually it's silage, don't know if that's what you guys call it on that side of the world. But it's greener long grass, too green for hay and they wrap it in pastic and let it 'pickle' DH who was bought up on his folks dairy farm says cows love it.
After we came home from a 2 week...
I have found this thread really interesting. I have been reading up quite about on how to feed without buying, or at least buying in as little as you can. This is a link on OFG's blog on one of the pages that has some good info too.
Savingsdogs, I really appreciate your answer!!! The DH definately likes the sound of prime rib in duck form. They are mighty strange looking though, but they all look the same in the frying pan:D
Sorry to be a thread hijacker, but what do the muscovies taste like? I am keen to get some once we get our little farm, hopefully in just a few short months now:D
I was just about to ask if you could make the soap yourself!!
Does anyone know what a recipe would be for a coconut oil soap like the one you buy for making the laundry soap. we don't have that stuff here in NZ, plus I would like to make the whole thing myself.
What do you all mix your soap in? I was just thinking using a couple of plastic buckets but the DH thinks that the raw soap will eat through the plastic. Is he right? I hope not coz I have already told him he is wrong:lol:
Thanks guys, and I can only imagine what buck scent is like, eeek. Because that stuff was nasty. what does the milk taste like? My DH was bought up on a dairy farm, and loved fresh raw milk. Is it much the same? Thanks for answering all my newbie questions!!
Could having a buck really make a difference to the taste? she does have bucks, a few I believe, her main business with the goats is selling the babies. I think she actually sells most of her milk as pet milk.
