Soak in hot water w/1C bleach for a day (Lid too, put it in a bowl of hot water w/a splash of bleach) then into the dishwasher. I use gallon pickle jars for raw milk storage and it works fine for me.
I tried everything else, baking soda, dish soap, peroxide, vinegar and nothing worked but...
Diesel, hands down.
Unmatched in torque for towing heavy loads be it over long interstate travels (Powerstroke) or through mountain passes (Cummins). And to get the equal towing capacity in a gas motor, I'd stop 3x as much to fill up and it'd end up costing more
Petey.. check the Fodder Feed thread on KFC ;) Thats where I got all my info. Sprouts can be fed to chickens at couple days on. BYC has a thread about it as well, I think
Bee, I think the pasty butt was more of a temp issue.. warm PO to cold truck (heater didn't do much good) to warm coop? I do have the ACV in thier water.
The clabbering is basically letting the raw milk sour and form a solid type mass. That will get mixed w/the barley and fed along with...
I am not ignoring yall.. I promise! Just insanely busy here!! I will get back here tonight and explain the clabber and pics of the sprouting and all that as well as some updated chick pics :)
I'd like to note something interesting about the chicks.. observed this morning... ALL the BA's have pasty butt :he None of the CX do. I wonder if it has to do with having a higher consistent body temperature then the BA's? :idunno
I can get pics of the sprouting setup for ya tomorrow. Its all setup since I'm foddering for the Jerseys (and hopefully eliminating grain!). I'm still gettin the hang of it though.. so bear with me
I can try getting something as far as sprouts vs commercial feed. I reckon measuring out a...
Oh yes, I will get all that posted! Thats what this thread is all about, so I'll give as much info as I can!
I am also interested to see how they do. I've raised hundreds of chicks over the last year, pure breeds, mutts, and am interested to see the comparison with these. Especially considering...
I know I was oohing and aahhhing when I picked em up :love :gig
10 CornishX pullets (was all they had available for this shipment)
and 15 Australorp cockerels (though I think I ended up with a few pullets)
I had intended to do 25 CornishX but my bad planning and short timeframe, well, I...
Well the chicks arrived this morning! I made the bleary eyed drive to the PO guzzling coffee and picked em up. Got em settled in the coop and they all got a drink and then snuggled up for a nap. They'll get one bag of chick ration then will be switched over to barley/clabber/sprouts mix. I'm...
$3.59 for gas and $3.89 for diesel here. Only thing gas we have is a 4wheeler.
Gonna fill up both auxiliary tanks on each truck with tax$ while we can, and then just keep em topped off from there. Gonna be upwards of $1k to do that :/
I can recall 99cent a gallon gas when oil was...
Interesting. I hadn't thought of paper towel or tp tubes. I'll start saving some!
I've been saving coke bottles to use for starting seeds. Everything from a 20oz to 2liters. Thinking I should be able to divide the 2 liter bottoms into 4 sections too. Will be doing mine this weekend so I'll try...
I'm with ya there HQ! Can't stand to wear anything but jeans. Tanktops and jeans in the summer and long sleeves and jeans in the winter.
Everytime I've work a skirt/dress I feel nekkid
I wish I did. My trusty lab was killed a few weeks ago. I'm on the lookout for another good dog as we speak though.
My layers didn't have the problem. They roosted in the coops or trees. Its the few that couldn't fly that met thier demise (Meaties, Runners and Pekins)
They'll have a huge area...
