I wouldn't use it for colds. The nature of a cold is to make you feel cold, so giving it an herb that chills the body is a bad idea. I would use mint for diarrhea, gas, or overheating. I don't use it much.
Sage might do better for a cold, even though its not ideal. I just did some research...
