How far along are you now?
My youngest was born 3 weeks early and has been independant since. I didn't have to worry about pre-e though, she just decided it was time.
With two daughters this worries me alot too! We try to stress that they are beautiful from the inside and are pretty on the outside. That it's the inner self that is important and the outter self is just the wrapper. That one only weighs themselves to see that they are growing and doing well...
:thumbsup It doesn't hurt guys to learn cooking and cleaning. I'm sure you have learned many things that are traditionally mens job. You will have piece of mind knowing that they can take care of themselves when they are ready to head out into the world on their own.
BYW, You're making me...
You're right Beekissed in that some would say it's not safe and according to the newest guidelines it's not recommended at all. I do use a pressure canner but, know people who do the waterbath for their meats and have no problem. A person just needs to decide on what they are comfortable with.
There's also the fact that one day you may not have the rainfall to replace what is used and not returned or evaporated. As someone who has to play "the game" with my house well, believe me it's not a game you want to play.
She'll do fine outside. We had -25 below temps for several nights in a row last week with negative daytime highs and our rexes did just fine. Just provide a well sheltered, draft free, and well bedded enviroment and plenty of food and water.

I've never done liquids but, I do things like strawberries that will mash and make liquid. I put them in and fold the end over and clip shut with a cloths pin. Then freeze. Once frozen I seal. So with liquids I would imagine you could put it in the bag and set the bag inside a container to hold...
That is a major issue. What good will it do you if it's spoiled?
I had a friend without electricity for 2 weeks. They lived in town and had a neighbor with a generator. Everyone ran extension cords to it to keep thier freezers going. They were the only thing the generator was used for. Another...
Stove is LP so I can still use the stove top and light by hand. I have a nice BBQ and can use that. I was actually without an oven recently until DH got it fixed and managed just fine. But, in the end if I needed I could go out and get the generator going. DH bought the generator years ago...
I use very little plastic ziplock style bags. The ones we do use we try to reuse over and over again. DH will use his sandwich one all week and when packing snacks to go for the kids I will reuse them.
Shopping bags I use my own and if I get a few store plastic ones, I will use them to line...
