Thanks for the welcome back and the new welcome. I like the growing number of people in Eastern Ohio. Kinda makes me feel connected. Hoping the rain does stop on Fri. I have to work at Rogers and really hate doing that in the rain. I live in Stark County by the way. Got your PM QA and sent a reply.

Boyd - Day in the life of a hillbilly stuck in Michigan..

Wow! what a big garden. Reminds me of Mom and Dad's garden growing up. They were feeding up to 14 people at one time so it had to be large. Ours runs about 50'x50' or so. You've planted a lot already. Makes me wish we could get into our garden.

    PamsPride's Journal-Free Kindle Downloads!

Apples sound so good right now. I really need to go to the orchard and get some. We are completely out of all apple products. I know what you mean about not having anywhere to put canned goods. We have them lined up along the table right now. I feel like I've canned so much and still not sure if...

    Making it on small acreage

Just found out yesterday that the neighbor will be moving next year. Now we're kind of in a pinch. He was letting us use extra yard for grazing area for our calves and they have been nice enough for the past couple of year to let the free range chicks walk through their yard. All they ask in...

Ugh... Broke and struggling... Ideas anyone?

I don't know if its a legitimate option for you, but a girl I work with had her child support taken out of his income taxes. As long as he has an income coming in he has to file taxes and if the child support office know they could have it taken out of his taxes. You should be able to get back...

    WWYD canning Q?

Keep and eye on the seals. I almost never remember to take all of the air bubble out and have never had a problem. We leave ours out of the pantry for a day or two though just to double check the seals. If any of them pop. We'll put them in the fridge and use them up or wait for another batch...

So glad you were there for your neighbor. Like you we are normally the neighbors who get called in those situations. Not that I could do that to one of my own goatie babies, but DH has done it once or twice. Enjoy your peach pie. I can taste it even though we haven't gotten peaches this year...

    Making it on small acreage

We sell the spring muscovy babies and then let one hen keep her young-uns in the fall to make replacements for the old stock. We only try to keep about 5 or so hens. Decided which ones to get rid of now. Kind of interesting chasing them around and trying to remember who is who. On an up note...

Well we got to take a trip to Eagles Nest Hatchery. What an awesome guy. He walked us around and showed us the setup. Where they work and hatch and such. It is truly amazing how many eggs their incubators will hold. Not to mention their hatchers. We also got to see where he's growing out next...

Goat question.....on post 10 I have more questions

Our first house for our goats was a yard shed. Not the best arrangement and certainly not easy to get them up to the garage to milk, but it worked. It still sits out there and the girls will use it in the summer to just cool off in if they don't want to go in the barn. Goats need a nice draft...
