    Making it on small acreage

Decided to go to a jewelry designs party last night. Didn't think I'd buy much, but hey it's a good excuse to get out of the house. My gosh the prices some women will pay for jewelry and to think my engagement ring came from the local Wal-Mart. Not that I'm complaining or anything. Love it to...

I go the middle ground. We have them around for the milk mostly, but I keep them registered just in case. I can get a little more out of the kids when they're registered, but still sell them on the cheap because mine aren't good enough to be shown.

    Goat and other problems

Sounds like polio or white muscle. Has she had her CD&T shots? Try mega dosing her with B vitamins. I'm talking like double the recommended dose. Make sure she keeps eating her hay and drinking water, but withhold the grain. How old is your doe?

just what I was getting ready to post OFG. PBS animal health is a wonderful place and many of their employees are just chock full of knowledge when it comes to animals. We are lucky with our local TSC, but yes I still have to rely on most of my own knowledge when it comes to items in there. Try...

Went to the Farmers Market in Alliance and got some goat cheese for myself and a co-worker. I had to go and get it as that's what I was eating at the VBS program last night. It was really good. Now DH wants me to get all the cultures to make it which means a drive up to Akron this week. Luckily...

Decided to give the inside dogs a flea bath today. What an experience. Did them one at a time. Definitely makes me think I need to get a hosed shower head. The are both butts to do. :P Trying to jump out and get me all wet. Not much going on outside right now, but I did get more raw wool listed...

Jason closes his journal... Thanks!! I love you!!

So sorry to hear about the tragedy that you had to experience. I believe that spirits do exist and have felt them at different times in my life. Kinda like a sixth sense. I am glad you have found help to see you through this in your church family and other counseling.

I think I helped check your stuff in. I know I checked off your paper for you:) The buff polish wasn't mine. I had the white polish on the second or third row who was all by himself. The thing belongs to DD who is 4 and had taken a shine to pecking. I kind of sleep walk through the weekend so I...

You can use alot of different things to trim goat hooves. I've seen people use pruning shears from the garden store. My dad and DH use a pocket knife for quick trim ups. I was using goat and sheep hoof trimmers yesterday. They make is so much easier. I get mine at festivals from Mid-States Wool...

very interesting day today. We took it easy in the early afternoon. I got a call from K at 2:30 saying that the guy called back about the alpacas and we were on. So we went down to shear some alpacas(sorry didn't get pics this time either). When we got there we decided with the owner that only...

I've been spinning for about 8yrs. Is saw a group of ladies doing it at the county fair and one just let me use one of her wheels. She sat there with me all day trying to get that wheel to work for and it just wouldn't:P Got her address and went down there once a week for a couple months. Got...

I have a louet s75 that I bought at the auction at the maryland sheep and wool festival. I also have an antique flax wheel that I don't use at all. It sits there.:-) I am hoping to be able to get a kromski sonata within the next year. I think it would make life so much easier because they fold...

Dad came over yesterday and got sis#2's car running and got it out of the yard. Yeah now she will have her own car (hopefully). While he was doing that I had sis helping me make another batch of cheese. She was kind of interested in how it worked, but didn't really think she would do it again. I...

    NEXT Year's Garden Planning

Start earlier. ;) We didn't get most of our veggies in until mid june and finally finished up with the corn 2 wks ago. DH said he wants to move the greenhouse closer to the garden and I think I'm going to try to grow lettuce and a tomato plant in there over the winter.
